DS 4.9.3 and MAC requirements

My understanding is that in order to run DS 4.9.3 on a MAC, I need to run (1) at least MAC OS 10.7, (2) Cuda 8 and at least Cuda driver 367.XXX.
My problem/question here concerns the following.
I read (somewhere on the net) that the Cuda 367.XXX web driver minimum is only necessary for those who want to run a PASCAL Nvidia GPU (like 1060/70/80), but NOT ncessary for those who are running a (as I am) GTX 660/760, because the MAC OS has built in drivers for these GTXs that don't require the 367.xxx web driver for the Nvidia engine to run.
Since the tread that mentioned the above was not related to DS, I am wondering if, NEVERTHELESS, the 367.xxx web driver is mandatory just because DS 4.9.3 requires it to play nice with the newest Nvidia technology?

Cuda is not an issue for those without Nvidia cards. I have run DS 4.9 on two Macs without needing to seek out any drivers beyond what came with the machines.
As I said, I have two Nvidia cards, so it is an issue for me.
I'm pretty sure you don't need the nvida drivers, but you will need the cuda drivers. (but the cuda drivers might havr some dependecies on the nvidia web drivers).
Try the cuda drivers and see what happens.

I've run it with and without the nVidia web drivers. It seems to run faster, but it's much much more unstable. It crashes my MacBoo Pro laptop after a certain amount of use. Doesn't matter if I use Daz Studio or not. Since my 650M doesn't have a lot of Cuda cores, I see very little if any speed difference, so I just use Apple's driver and just use the CPU for rendering.
