Auto fit question

Okay so My Genesis 3 female can use the auto fit to wear any thing all the way generation 4 (M4, V4) , but My genesis 3 male and Genesis 2 male can only do the same generation female and previous gen (for G3M just G2M and G3F and for G2M just G2F and G1).... am I missing something?
