Sounds good to me.
This is an obscene price for something that should have been included with my Daz Pro purchase (Yes, I actually purchased D/S adv/pro when Daz was charging for it!) Still, I am glad that this is an actual text-based tutorial and not a video! I'll wait for a sale...
I wont argue with you when it comes to saying that DAZ should have made one, but given that they haven't seen fit to produce one after all this time, it's a good thing that a PA has. As for the price, I feel your pain, but the price tag isn't out of line with the pricing of specialty books and it was on sale for half off not long ago. Given how many man hours go into creating something like this, and the limited number of people who are likely to buy it, and I can see why a PA wouldn't want to price it too cheaply.
Writing books / doing manuals is hard work, worth paying. Especially as it aims to give us a better grip on the things we can do with DAZStudio. So much content sits on my harddrive not used at all because the results don't look like they should ...
Hopefully, if you do comprehensive and include rigging, you'll deduct the price of the rigging guide for your loyal customers who bought it.(That's easily done, I've gotten many popups giving me discounts if I own X product.) I don't need to pay twice for the same material, and absolutely LOVE your teaching style and clarity of explaining concepts. Beautifully done!
I think there are two main reasons as folks have discussed the fact that aspects will change, and so then can be editted, I'll discuss the other.
Price: folks can buy those they find useful, and not be put off by the price of the full collection.
Yeah, It's actually the right price considering it's such an extremely rare find, Too many over-priced video tutorials that are nothing but droning minutiae of personal settings, real time fumbling set-ups and the entire history of the program's features with little to no real-world step by steps on how to make these perfectly detailed tools actually work!
Which is why I am no fan of the majority of video tutorials! (Excluding the gems I've linked in my sig!) As I mentioned before, I'll definitely buy them when they go on sale!
All kinds of YES on this one. A comprehensive guide like this is imperative for anyone who is trying to get serious about Daz, and doesn't want to waste time with a lot of trial and error, or scouting around with the learning process..
You are entitled to your opinion. I believe personally it is a fair price for the convenience it grants.
As for sales - I leave it all in the hands of DAZ marketing. I'll let the professionals handle this.
There won't be one, gigantic tome of DAZ Studio. I'm aiming for several guides that form a series - so that people can choose the topic they need and are not forced to purchase the whole thing for a big price.
If anything, I'd love to make a discounted bundle at the very end that contains all the guides together - in case new people wanted to purchase everything at once at a fair price.
So there is no worry that you will pay twice for the same thing.
That said - if the problem would ever come up, I'll keep the discount idea in mind. Just in case.
That said - I'm leaving the marketing part in the hands of DAZ. I'm sure they will know what to do.
I would not oppose an extra discount for each new guide coming up if you own the previous one though. But that is something to consider once the Iray guide is ready.
Why your guide is not any more present in the DAZ marketplace?
