Soft Focus?

I'm not sure whether it is my PC or the new DAZ Studio update but my Iray renders are now far from sharp. It is as though I have the camera slightly out of focus so the features on a face, for example, are now in very soft focus. Yet I do not have depth of field switched on. As far as I know, everything is default. I've tried different lights but they don't help. I checked with a normal photograph and the image is very sharp (I have a decent Dell 25 inch montor). 

Is there any way to render sharper images without resorting to postwork?

    Again I found something that I should have remembered - I seem to forget a lot when I have a few months away from this hobby. In the Iray settings I reduced the pixel filter to 1.2 and I also rendered a larger image which I can then reduce afterwards. I'm now getting much sharper images.
