No Way to Import a Dress

Why are there different ways of installing new DAZ content? Up to now I succeeded by unzipping the download and distributing the content manuel in the right folder.
This time there were 3 setup-files (10948_6_ds_BoleroDress_6, -7 and -8)
I had to decide where to install each. And so or so it was impossible to keep the folder system.
Now I find in the following folders the accordant files and types but it's impossible for me to find a way to import it to the character:

My Library/ data/ BoleroDress_Object/maps/ containing .dsv-files
My Library/ People/ The Kids4/BoleroDress/Materials/ containing .daz- and .dsb-files
My Library/ Runtime/Textures/Opti123/BoleroDress/ containing .jpg-files

I'm missing a .cr-file which I usually import first.

That is a DAZ Studio only dynamic dress -- there is no .cr2

All content gets installed to the content directory - in your case that's My Library. The Bolero dress is DAZ Studio dynamic clothing, so it doesn't have Poser-format files (.cr2 etc). The Data folder holds the information on shape and so on, you don't access that directly. As with Poser format content the Runtime\Textures folder holds the images that change the surface appearance of the item, and again you don't usually access that directly. The files you want are the ones in \People, a scene file for loading the clothing (.daz) and materials presets for applying the textures (.dsa).

Thank you so far. Now I've uninstalled all files and started once more. I put in this path for the 3 setups: DAZ3D/ Studio/ My Library
Now I open a suitable character - and then???

The dress will be in the Content Library in "DAZ Studio Formats/My Library/People/ The Kids4/BoleroDress/"

Yes, I understood. And I managed to open the file by choosing "MERGE". But then:

    - it's impossible to make it fit although it's made for the base figure
    - I don't know how to select it (except in the sidebar) so that I could choose "fit to ..."
    - how can I choose other textures

That item uses the dynamic clothing control to drape it onto the figure.

Thank you very much, dear wilmap! Finally this was the advice to make the dress fit! But only as long as the figure doesn't move ... How can I parent it to the character now??

Can you select the dress, right-click and choose "Fit to"?

No, the dress doesn't appear in the selection.
I tried it by "drap animated" - but without success. The dress doesn't fir anymore as soon as the character moves.

You have to pose the figure first and then drape the dress. Every time you change the pose you will have to re drape it.

If you do an animated drape you can have different poses at different points in the animation but Wilmap is correct if you are doing a still drape you will need to redrape if you change the pose.

Oh, that's no good news! But, at least, is there a way to 'select' dynamic clothes to change or delete it in the scene ?

Is it not listed in the Scene tab? What version of DS are you using (e.g. 4.5.1.6)?

It's listed and selectable in the sidebar (Parameters/ above 'all' and 'currently used'. But I can't select it by mouse/-right click as usual. I'm working with DAZ 4.5

... I think it is worth a new topic ...

If you select it in the Scene pane you should then be able to fit it using the button in the Parameters pane (but note that dynamic clothes don't work with AutoFit - if you want to use them with a figure they weren't designed for you will have to pose them to line up, or start with the figure zeroed in frame 0, apply your pose in frame 30, and do an animated drape).

One peculiar thing about the Optitex dynamics is that you can't select them by clicking in the viewport — you must use the Scene tab and click on the item's name there. Been using these things for years, ever since they first came out, and that still catches me out now and then.
