Hmmm... is it installed in some custom way, or just the default C: Program Files: Daz3d?

Also, do you have plugins installed? If so, make sur ethey are compatible with the version of Carrara you're using. During the initial launch of Carrara, it seems to run through what's in the extensions folder - it needs to since many of its feature rely on extensions. So if something is in there that is funky, it can cause a crash.

So if you're not sure, try removing the extensions folder and then install Carrara again fro scratch, right over the existing. Uninstalling won't get rid of anything you've added manually. So the easiest way to make sure is to actually move the folder out of the Carrara installation onto your desktop, so when Carrara reinstalls, you can open both folders and compare them.

Did you install from DIM, Sometimes DIM goofs up the install and uninstalling and reinstalling it will work.

Install the program, then plugins, then content seems to be the most effective

If it turns out that not having any plugins installed works, install plugins one at a time and test that Carrara runs okay after each installation to try and isolate which plugin is causing the issue.

my first suspect is always the graphics driver.

2nd suspect is windows permissions issue.  the roaming app bit is somewhere in the user folders, is in a daz subfolder

welcome to carrara - almost smiley
