  • A non-floating aircraft carrier would be of limited use, except as an artifical reef.

Aww, dang it!  You beat me to the punch!

    Sincerely,

  • She (I think) wants something like the SHIELD Heli-Carrier from The Avengers movie, though not an obvious rip-off of the design.

  • I'm not sure if this is too close to the original design but there is one in 3DS format (which could be converted to obj for import): http://tf3dm.com/3d-model/avengers-helicarrier-81409.html

Truth be told there are a considerable  number of items in the Daz store that are of more limited use than a floating battle carrier type vehicle; especially considering such craft have been a staple of Sci-fi for quite a while.

Even a battle carrier would be nice.

To quote Hank McCoy (The Beast); "Oh my stars and garters". That is one interesting toy that Nick Fury has there. And I have to grin at Banner's remark about it being worse than a submarine.

  • There's one on Renderosity.

Shows up under a search for Super Carrier. It's ~~ $28

Not sure if this is taboo linking, but I have others do similar.

I sent it ina message but not sure if that works.

Reminds me of some of the designs from anime like Space Battlecruiser Yamato (Starblazers).

    Don't bring me back!

    Heavy Influence...Robotech/Macross etc...

I did a comic inspired by Star Blazers and Robotech and Battlestar Galactica -

After I saw Top Gun, I thought to create a Sci-Fi comic with an aircraft carrier as the main ship.

It combined space battles with fighters and also the cliche "That one earth battleship no one can defeat".

And I was ahead of the curve because I had a female captain- but I then succombed to stereotypes cause she was blonde and a little ditzy.

    -----------

Oh this reads so terrible. And of course we had a super-cannon like the Wave Motion Gun that would always win the battle in the end like a wrestling finishing move.

Messing with Daz has caused me to revisit all my old comics and consider revamping more of them. Some of the translations are crazy.

Yep,  It's been so long, all that stuff is practically new again --  and certainly new to most of the current users of Daz. Somebody could really capitalize on modeling some stuff loosely based on all that nostalgia.  I already see a lot of people trying to visualize the look with the current items in the store, but it means developing skills far beyond just a hobbyist and learning modeling to really achieve it.  But if the desire is strong enough, and current PAs aren't interested, I can see some new guys on the horizon that are going to rack up.

  • Right now, Star Trek seems to be the leading franchise. Everyone seems to making that kind of prop and bridge.

I'm seeing all this crazy Atlantis stuff. I wonder where THAT came from.

It's pretty incredible stuff. Egyptian influences. I would love to dive into that universe and write something for that world.

But going back, I've been gathering stuff from all over. Turbosquid and other sites and buying all the sci fi kits.

There's someone looking for sci-fi uniforms in one of these threads,

I was going to suggest making uniforms and stuff by mixing and matching.

Most clothing is too flamboyant, too simple and generic or Star Trek inspired.

I always get scared that I'm going to use something -- and it's from a game or show I haven't seen. lol

Realizing this is an older thread, here is what purports to be the USS Lexington, obtained from the SketchUp 3D Warehouse, author 'leon'.  Exported from SketchUp Make 2017 (Free) and then imported into Daz Studio 4.9 by my forthcoming SketchUp-to-Daz direct-transfer solution.  A very basic model to be sure, but it I think it demonstrates the possibilities.

    Regards,
    Mike

This reminds me of how the Sulaco was designed.  The Sulaco from Aliens has been described as a 'gun in space' and is has a passing similarity to the pulse rifles used in the movie.
