Parenting a light to clothing

OskarssonOskarsson Posts: 793

...would be cool! Any idea how this could be achieved? Parenting a light to, say a piece of Genesis clothing works until you start dialing in the morphs. The light stays in the same position. How could one make a light follow Genesis morphs?
The light is not geometry so it doesn't care about the morphs. Any tricks that could change that?

I got a really cool outfit in mind if I can work out how this is done. Any help would be appreciated!

I think you can use a light-emitting material on a regular non-light object? Better lighting minds than mine know how....

Thanks, Canary3D! I heard that the area light was broken in later versions of Studio but I should definitely check that out for myself...

I was thinking of parenting a couple of point lights to a piece of clothing, I think that would look spectacular!

Uber Area Light is working in DAZ 4.5.1.6.

It was broken...but it and a number of other renderer problems were fixed in 4.5.1.6...which should be ample reason to upgrade to that version (the other major renderer fix was a raytrace bug).

Thanks Guys! I might not be the effect I'm looking for but it looks like my best bet right now...

    Here's a how-to for the idea I'm thinking of: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/1281/#14838

I haven't tried it but it's not a point light, more like a ball with a special shader.

Thanks Canary:) Yeah, I might have to go with a shader-based solution... Bummer.

    Thanks IanzThingz!

Getting closer but I would still like to get a regular light in there... It's not looking like I want it. Sigh.
