Importing object into Daz with materials?

Hi everyone, I'm a DS noob so bear with me. I want to make simple meshes in Maya and then import them into DS to include in a scene with Daz characters. So I model the mesh and apply materials in Maya, then export it as an OBJ. But when I import the OBJ into DS it has lost its materials and is just a white object. How do I maintain the materials when importing?

Looks like two of my threads were combined, which makes sense -- didn't mean to spam! However I solved the second question myself, so to avoid confusion I went ahead and deleted those posts (the two posts above this one). I'm still looking for an answer to the question posed in the title -- does anyone know of a way to import objects into Daz Studio from other 3D software (Blender, Maya, etc.) with the materials intact?
It's not possible I don't think. You will need to assign materials, then assign the texture maps to the materials. If using iray to render, assign iray base material, then put the texture maps into diffuse for example.
Thanks for the reply! Too bad there's no easy way but not a huge deal.
