I prefer the 1979 published Trek Maps (one is on Ebay right now, in case you've never seen them: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1979-Star-Trek-Maps-Reference-Book-Wall-Map-Set-of-2-Excellent-L7914-/370630315932 ). Those took into account the 3D nature of the galaxy--decades before we had Poser!! :-P I still have a set of those maps, myself, & still consider them to be superior to many of the recent maps that came out for TNG-era (although there are some good exceptions out there).
Heh! The view from the side even has Pern labled :-)
I don't understand those gangways. The cranes load like they're supposed to, why won't they???
I really appreciate all the work you have put into this.
Thanks again for all of your hard work.
You're welcome. I hope it works okay for you now.
Looks nice, but I think I can see the strings holding it up. ;-)

When did Gerry Anderson start making Trek? :cheese:
All,
Thought I'd share some info for the DAZ users,
DAZ 4.6 was released either today or in the last few days. Your DAZ updated feature may not indicate the update, mine didn't.
Oh well I have it and am loading it.
Here is a link to describe the updates and changes. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/21745/
For the Poser users, keep in mind your update is coming in the next week on the 21st. http://poser.smithmicro.com/poser10-poserpro2014/
Big score for the 3D hobby!
Also everyone I've updated all the freebies,
Good luck and enjoy futzing!
Already standing in line! I'm side-grading this time. Moving over to Poser Pro 2014. It's expensive, but I want to try the new "Fitting Room". Suposedly, you can take any figure and the outfit from any OTHER figure into this room and fit the outfit to the figure without going through Wardrobe Wizard or cross dresser or any other simular program- then save it as an outfit for that figure.
Supposedly,l they've improved the Firefly render engine, too.

From what I've seen it act's much like autofit and my tutorial combined (over at DA)
Does that mean you'll up date your character to V4 or higher? Sorry I had to jab the old wound. Personally I'd like to get a copy of your morph files for your characters, import to V4 and hand back. All that can be done smoothly in DAZ without a hiccup.

I don't understand why folks are so down on V3. I've been using her since Poser 5 and I haven't had any problems except for a few poses were the joints don't fold exactly right. But that's mainly in extreme poses.
I contacted Illusion Designs- where I got the character package for V3 that I use, to see if they could transfer the morphs to V4 and they said they had tried and the 2 were too different in their construction.
For my current needs, as far as the characters that I already have based on V3, I'm okay. Now, later on, when I move into the NG era, I'll have to use V4- and M4- in order to come up with the characters I need. But that's still 4 books away.
Guardian in the dark
That looks like the Enterprise underneath an Apollo/Lunar module assembly.
It's very hard to see. From the looks of the render quality it looks like you used LuxRender.
A suggestion would be to use a sun light at a cross angle of the luner module and star ship. but then in lux lower the light settings to something that looks like ambient sun light.
Other than that it's a cool of idea and size comparison for both pieces.

More of one of my main characters.
Hey everyone! I just wanted to show off some renders I made using Daz Studio:
http://highwayhoss.deviantart.com/gallery/43701173
These are pics of my fanmade Starship the USS New Ironsides. I used some of Mattymanx's models plus the Space Sphere for the BG.
The centerpiece is Mattymanx's Poser model of the USS Resurrection. I also added a page with the specs and history. I did make some additions to the model; in addition to the changed textures, I added naviagtion lights. These were created by combining a Point light with a sphere primitive (both shrunk down). The Turret cannons were some Sci FI handguns I modified extensively.
I really like how the pics came out.
Any comments and critiques welcome.
Anyone have a need for this? :

Coolies. Wanted to make a custom of that ship, too. I was wondering, may I ask if you could make some custom name and numbers, for I lack the software to make them, good ones, anyhow.
Please let me know if this is possible. :D

Are there texture maps for that ship? Do you have somekind of photoshop type program? If you answer yes to both of these questions, then you, too can make new names and registries. :-)
I use Paint.Net myself.
I use Paint.Net myself.
I've never used that one. Does it use layers? Can you create Text in it? Do you have the right Trek font for the era?
I think I just have the side station panels, lift doors and some chairs left to do....
Yes, it does layers
Yes, it can create Text
I have a number of different Trek fonts.
Here's the site: http://www.getpaint.net/index.html

Then all you need to do, is pick the font you want to use, then type out the ship's name and registry- include the USS and NCC so it's all the same font-on a layer above your texture maps, then simply adjust the name and so on into place over the existing name and registry- you'll probably have to adjust each letter and number on their own-, remove the original name and registry, save it as a new map named for your ship and then swap it for the original on your model.
And thanks for the link. :-)
BTW Paint.Net also has plugins to enhance its capabilities.....one I used on the model "curves" the text either way.....you can adjust several parameters of the curve to get best results...another reason I use it.

The ship comes with textures, in fact also comes with a set without names and numbers, for customs. All I got is MS paint, this computer's a pile of junk and waiting for a new one to be finished, so I don't have any decent programs, neither do I have decent fonts.
:-) Oh I do hope you're going to share this :-)
Thanks. While I did have one, doesn't hurt to have another ;-)
There are also a couple of forehead tattoos:
Risian forehead mark DS9-Enterprise type
Risian forehead mark TNG type
Having seen the new movie, today, in IMAX, I just hope someone soon does a model of the new Dreadnaught. WOW oh WOW. Such a sweet ship. (The movie Theatre near me, started running STID today, with a midnight screening last night in IMAX.)
Oh, and yes, it's a really good movie. I have to say I recommend it highly.
beautiful work, as always
Thanks Madison!
Beautiful work as always.
