Someway to rate a product

I'm new to Daz, but am loving it!
That being said, it would be really helpful if there was a section for product reviews attached to the product page. I have found some products aren't necessarily as good as they claim, or aren't as user friendly as others. It would be great to be able to read about other user's experience's with a particular product before purchasing. I've actually stopped buying things now unless I can find some type of info about it on the user forums, but that is so time consuming.
A User Review page is common place on many online stores. It has been shown to have a positive impact on sales. I'm not sure why Daz doesn't have one.
Comments
We've been screaming for this capability for years and have been ignored. I don't ever see it happening.
Given that Magento (the store software used here) supports these out of the box, as it were, and they have deliberately disabled these features, I would say that DAZ simply has no desire to be anything but a comfortable emulation of a brick and mortar store.
That's interesting. Indeed that suggests an active decision to avoid this kind of feedback rather than a passive..."we may get around to implementing it some time." I wonder why.
IMO, the problem is that some just come in because they don't like the person and leave a bad review without even buying the product. If they do that it will effect sale which would be unfair to the PA and Daz.
No easy way to prevent that kind of childish or mean behaviour, sadly. The same is true though in other review websites. Personally I always ignore the very best and worst comments and look for the ones that try to give a measured opinion. Still, I can see that DAZ might feel that they just don't want the hastle.
I can see it being useful; but only when there are at least hundreds of sales. On Amazon, for example, if there aren't many sales, it is no easier to decide than when there are none. The fact that functionality has been disabled must mean Daz has specific reasons not to want the functionality; any arguments would have to counter (the unknown) reasons.
The best way to rate a product: buy it, then post renders in a thread.
I'm more likely to pay attention to user renders, than to what folks say. A picture paints a thousand words, and many more.
I don't like a 1-5 rating system. It's far too arbitraryr. Now, if there was a "Product Quality Survey, page where you could enter the SKU and answer some... objective questions about the product, that would be more useful IMHO than the snap judgement that may be based on purile intent. There are PA's here to whom I am a rabid fan-boi. But some days, and some products, even by them would get a severe trashing simply because it lacked one feature I wanted (like opening doors, or swivel seats, or ...).
I like Etrigan's thoughts. And also wanted this at some point in the past.
1) It'd have to be like Amazon and have that 'Certified Purchase' thing so you know it's not a rating from someone looking at the box art. lol
2) I say only thumbs up reviews - as negatives would probably all fall under tech support issues- which in turn, are complaints.
3) The closest might be a 'most popular' or 'most number bought' system so the store does the "review" for us - like it does now with HOT ITEMS.
4) A survey system where you rate your purchases and it goes into a matrix.
I honestly admit some stuff I bypass interest when I see threads of customers trying to get tech support for a product.
You can find some reviews; however not at Daz, of products in the Daz store, which is particular useful for products like light packages and the like. Generally you have to belong to 3D modeling groups to be aware of these, but yeah, reviews of products would be nice. As it stands we're all buying pretty much blind. I know I've bought items I probably wouldn't have if I'd known before hand what I was getting.
While we tend to look at the results of negative reviews, there are probably lots of products that would equally benefit from positive reviews. For instance there are some items I only bought after I'd seen someone use them because the production renders were just bad and really put me off the product, and review would have rectified that.
I think you can limit reviews to purchasers of the product.
And I would love to rate products. Too many products are being made which have technical issues such as problem textures or fit issues. Leaving feedback about that would be helpful info for the buyers of the products.
It would be great to see ratings and comments before buying. I'm still surprised the store doesn't have these basic features. I often, but not always, search the forums for the product. It would save a lot of frustration to know in advance that a stated material was missing, before making the purchase. Sure, it's returnable, but that's not the point. Probably like others I buy with an idea of a scene in mind. Download, install, set it up in DS, add figures, position camera and lights etc. Apply materials, render...blood pressure rises.
Usually people leave reviews on a product right after they buy it
And there have been many Daz items I've purchased that at first glance after buying have been "eh, it's ok but I really should have put my money elsewhere" and then much later going "Oh, I didn't know I could do that, wow that was a great buy!"
Well said Kaotkbliss.
Also the opposite where, like FaceGen....
- Starts out everyone curious
-Skeptical
- frustrated with getting it going
-Excited at the results
-reset to normal after understanding the full working product.
No regrets, but I had my ups and downs with it.
Regular users will probably swear by iot, but some of the power-users have issues with some of the features.
So far my vote is great buy, but doesn't REPLACE the people resources in place.
I think it makes a gread addition. Depending on WHEN I wrote my review, it'd need some revisions.
Lol, I actually came here looking for some info on a product I just bought and was wondering why there is no review section, I would guess that the closest we'll get is in the forums.
