Antarctica Expedition clothing

I would be very interested in getting http://www.daz3d.com/antarctica-expedition-the-encampment-sled-and-poses but I have no idea what I could use as suitable clothing for the people I might use with itin any render. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks. I have that one but there doesn't seem to be any way to close the coat up and as is it doeesn't seem too appropriate to period arctic clothing

Check out this thread for a few more suggestions:

I recall another thread about winter clothing appeared when the French Ski Resort was released, but I can not find that.

This was the main reason I passed on these products. Esepcially with the clothing in so many promos, and then realizing the clothing wasn't included and wasn't available. Ansiko should have really teamed up with someone to make outfits and then release them all at the same time. Or even now for that matter -- DAZ could do an artiic themed sale with newly released outfits and include the expedition stuff in it just below the new items. We've seen them do stuff like that many times now.

I don't know what clothing Ansiko used in the promos; but it would have been nice if it was released somewhere.

Wasn't there a really old set that went along with this

As I recall it was a aprtial clothing set, parts of it were isntead textures for other sets. Ah, I ddi buy the full set and this is what it says for the clothes:

The rugged wilderness needs rugged gear. Outfit your character in Meshworkz' Champion Clothes Set. A conformable parka for Michael 3/Victoria 3 includes a HoodDown morph to let the wind through your character's hair. Hands will stay warm with Mittens (a HideHands PoseMAT has been included) and there are protective Goggles to insure a wonderful snow adventure. And for those with the High Fantasy Naiar Edana Clothes and DAZ's Morphing Fantasy Dress, you'll find bonus textures.

I checked and, sadly, I don't own that set and can't currently find it offered anywhere

ETA: Beats578's Skidress might be useable as arctic clothing but it is too modern for Ansiko's set.

I do have the clothing set for the dog sled bundle and they are so skin tight that they may as well be summer swimwear.

I have money for a set of Arctic/Antarctic clothing for Genesis 8 ready and waiting.

You and me both buddy. You could try getting and using the new thickener tool.

the set in the promo looks like a santa suit with a hood in muted colours, possibly the M3 ones

  • Yeah, I was thinking of the old M3/V3 set also.  Yeah, it's the old gen 3 people so no fancy technology, but if you've got the M3/V3 people already, it's a solution.enlightened

Nope, not a solution. It is not available anywhere I can find and I don't have it in my account. So, I still need some appropriate artic/antartic clothing.

I have this Ansiko set. I been successful IMHO in kluging together parts of 'suitable' clothing for the time frame. Sadly, my custom parka fur is on another dead computer. But with some of these suggestions, a reasonable set of almost time appropriate clothing can be achieved. I found some good textures will add to the illusion. Old leather, but even some times moss on rocks, or knits with high tiling. Posing, judicious snow placement go a long way. But of course, this is for still work, I don't know these would work in animation.

https://www.daz3d.com/dog-attack-suit-for-genesis-8-males Bulky, and toggle fasteners help
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-km-duffle-coat-for-genesis-8-females has a hood and toggles. I would give it more thickness
https://www.daz3d.com/cool-weather-casual Bulky coats change the texture
https://www.daz3d.com/russian-clothing-for-genesis-3-male-s Good for pants and boots, a good bulky coat
https://www.daz3d.com/santa-claus-outfit-character-and-hair-bundle Change suit color to "seal", remove dangle hat, use the furry band
https://www.daz3d.com/snow-maiden-outfit-for-genesis-8-female ; use the fur around the hood Double the image and offset for thicker fur
    https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-real-fur-poncho-for-genesis-8 This looks very good

Fermion Racing Suit for Genesis 8 Male(s) | Daz 3D  good 'snow suit',  this has a nice cowl that can be given a knitted texture, suit with the bulky coat will work, gloves   Cold Weather Outfit for Genesis 8 Female(s) | Daz 3D nice jacket make a little thicker,

lots of knitted caps available so no special recommendation, for time frame go with grey/brown/dark navy 'wool' knit

Some scarves may work, many just won't work. The old ones like M3 might fit.

I've attached one of my Arctic works. The shirt is from Genesis 1 Magi. The 'fur' was a gift by another artist. Kind of old now.

Here's what I came up with fairly painlessly. Original textures. Clothes parented as by Sickleyield's script. Russian outfit coat, pants, boots, Hoodie jacket applied first then jacket material "cut" opacity. Scarf is M3. Just to show what can be done in short time.

Nice but more modern than the time frame of the Shackleton Antarctic Expedition

  • This site has some great photographs, including Shakleton. Polar Gear Of Yesteryear Polar Gear of Yesteryear: Expedition Clothing 100 Years Ago (oceanwide-expeditions.com)

Looks like Shakleton fashion was a kind of baggy pullover canvas 'poncho', with sweater/jumper under, well wrapped scarf and big furry mittens, knitted caps, one guy featuring a kind of puttee or shin wrap, ankle high boots, baggy leather pants. Pack harness loosely drapped. I'm going to see if I can find something like that, as I hold Shakleton as a hero.

Hi again, just finished this 'sketch'. I'd probably add a hood for closer perfection. The Tunic is this over a plump G8 female. Those cruises do look intriguing.
