Valzheimer's Fabric Factory

These shaders are great, but I can't get any of the overlays to work. I choose the overlay and the colour, but the cloth still stays the same, no pattern is applied.
Anyone else have this problem?

Sorry, I don't have it yet, but I still don't have a clear understanding of shader overlays. The only product I have where I get consistent results is Elaborate Metals for Iray., which is as straightforward as the item layout and labelling. But when I'm working with Fabiana's The Shader Plan (both of them), sometimes the multiple options render, and sometimes they don't, and I have no idea why. I have not found a shader package with exact instructions for this either.
I don't usually have any trouble using this type of shader but, no matter what I do, I can't get the overlays to work.
Overlays use the "diffuse overlay" in the surface tab, they won't be visible before you hit render button :) It needs Daz 4.9, Daz 4.8 and earlier didn't have this surface setting.
If everything else fails (or you have older version of Daz) you can make a L.I.E from using overlay mask as the mask and a texture as a color.
I hope this helps, first image shows preview versus the preview render, after applying overlay.
Second image is where you should see overlay if it's properly applied under Surfaces.
First apply base texture (cottons and chenilles have overlays), then apply pattern and then choose color.
Let me know if you have any other issues, I'm here to help :)

Thank you for the explanation. I was actually using 4.8 instead of 4.9 which I do have, so that was why I couldn't get it to work. Should learn to read the store page properly.
Sorry to hear about that, one of the main reasons I upgraded to 4.9 was this "second diffuse" (popularly called) feature.
But if you blend main texture and overlay in LIE or photoshop using an overlay as the transparency mask, it will give same result, you can shoot me an email at valzheimer@gmail.com and I can give you detailed instructions how to do that. Diffuse overlay is just easier to change and less resource heavy than applying LIE each time in the scene, which is why I went for that option when making FF.

Have sent you a PM.
I just bought this - I don't suppose there's a YouTube tutorial for it, is there? :) Or is that just wishful thinking haha :)
