So, all my content is gone again after an update

I already faced this problem when I updated from 4.6 to 4.9 - although I installed PostSQL, I still had to uninstall and reinstall all my content through DIM for them to be used, if not they'd be greyed out and I'd have to downlaod thruogh DAZ Connect which is very, very slow.

Now recently DAZ performed an auto update and all my content isn't showing on the Content Library. Not even the greyed out icons. It's just pure nothing.

Why this does keep happening with each update? It's very very frustrating honestly. Updating metadata doesn't seem to work. My CMS folders haven't changed as shown in the attachment.

How do I prevent this from happening again in a future update and what do I do now (other than uninstall and reinstall) to get back my content?

Updates should work without any problems, I have never even had a hickup, not sure what the problem could be.

You did not run DIM while having DS running or something like that ?

I assume you have the DIM content in ...\My DAZ 3D Library (in the public folder).

Content Library pane does not use the database except for Products and Categories so it should not matter whether CMS is running or not.

  • What does the Content Directory show ? is it empty or does it show the folder names but nothing in them ??

No, it didn't. It doesn't have that ability. You would have to have included Daz Studio in a list of packages that you installed using Install Manager for it to do what you see as an automatic update

    Yup two both.

It's entirely empty like what the attachment shows.

Well believe it or not thats what happened, I just turned DAZ on and it got so slow and suddenly I have this really new layout and everything...and all my content gone.

So what could be the solution? I've already set DAZ to never update but the main thing is to make sure this doesn't keep repeating itself!

That isn't a useful screenshot - nothing should appear in the top level Products folder. The actual Product folders have expand triangles so clearly there are products listed theer, if you do expand and click on a folder. However that iss till a CMS view - try using the DAZ Studio Formats listings at the top of the pane, again you need to click on an actual item folder to see anything.

Do not use Products or Categories when troubleshooting content problems, they use the database and therefore no more usefull than smart Content.
