Reading assets

My application takes very long to save/read/merge middle complex scenes. The application stands with the dialog: reading assets.

I saw in the forum that some users share the problem. But not one thread describes a solution or a work around.

Is there anybody out there, who can give me a hint to solve the troublesome issue?

Tx in advance!

  • It may help to re-save your scene from DS 4.9.3.166 - apprently older versions could include too much information, which can slow the progress down.

  • So suprised that i got an answer and - cool - it helped. Richard, 1000xthx for that.

I had both versions on my desktop 4.9.0.63 and 4.9.3.166. Stupidly I built my scene in the old one.

A scene including DAZ content and own Blender created obj content, lighted by uber2 and some DAZlights : render result UHD 4.9.0.63 perfect, in 4.9.3.166 a mess, same render settings.

I would expect that a 4.9 version shows the same results as a 4.9 version. Why this huge differnce between this two sub versions? or how can a save my scene?

  • There was a change from 4.8 to 4.9 in the handling of one SSS parameter, but I'm not sure what could happen from 4.9.0.63 (which is a rather old version) to 4.9.3.166. How is the render messing up, if you can characterise it (or post images, assuming they obey the ToS).

  • Dear Richard

Instead of tweaking, I built up my scene in 4.9.3.166 totally new. Days were required, but it works fine now.

    Again thanks, you helped.

  • Dear Richard

    Finally I solved the problem.

Hidden nodes: 40'000 invisble nodes (OctanRender Scene Data XY) in the scene. In fact not able to delete them, because already choosing the nodes would took hours.

But loading the scene and following saving it as a subset eliminates the whole rubbish.

Cleared scene is loading/merging/saving unbelievable fast, as I have to expect it from my pc.

Unclear where in the process these nodes were created.

So happy to got back my pleasure in working with DAZ.

    Adrian

Do you have the Octane plug-in? If not the data objects prsumably came with content that was loaded into the scenes.

  • no otoy plugin here, too expensive

i'm checking now after every content load for hidden nodes, and of course saving as a subset from time to time, should solve the issue
