Saved Scene Icons

I just noticed that I saved a render at 1200x1200 with a saved scene of the same name and the render now appears as an icon for the scene. I have been creating 91x91 icons for years ... when did this requirement change?

I'm not sur what you mean - thumbnails are still 91 pixels square, though you can also have a 256 pixel square tip image that appears in a tool-tip when you hover the mouse over the item in the content panes. If an image is saved to a Render Library DS will generate a thumbnail for it as for a scene.

Well, for me, I have an icon from a 1200x1200 image and I don't have a 91x91 version. When I hover over it, I get a much bigger image than the regular icons. I don't use Render Library (there's nothing in it) - the image is placed in the same folder as the scene.

Of course, I had to delete the default icon created when you save the scene but I always do that. I just forgot to make the 91x91 version that I normally create.

By the way - this is all good so I'm not compalining. I much prefer that I can hover over the icon and get a fair sized image rather than a tiny one.

Thanks,, I feel your way is unique and interesiting idea. because I often lost which scene correspond my saved render image in each render ribrary directories. Though render ribrary is good enough for me,,  keep and categorize render image with each library name from DS UI.

my question is,, when I save scene, as AAA.duf, usually ds make,, AAA.duf.png (small icon)

then you set render image name as AAA.duf.png ,and it overwrite icon image(small) too ?  and it  will work if you choose jpeg for render image?

I hope to  try with finish scene, (may saved special folda for each,  then save it with rendered image (as big icon,,) to  protect, and not overwrite it without intention.

Here's what I do usually. I create a character (let's call her Kim) using morph dials and maybe add clothes and hair.

I save the scene (or subset) as Kim.duf to a folder I have created under People>Genesis 3 Female> Characters (for example).

The save creates an icon called Kim.duf.png

Usually, I make a 91x91 render of Kim and save that to the same folder as Kim.png.

Then I delete the other icon Kim.duf.png (and click Refresh in the Content tab for that folder or its parent).

Sometimes I make a 1200x1200 render just to  see how it looks then I resize it to 91x91 to use as the icon. But in this case I forgot to resize and replaced Kim.duf.png with Kim.png (1200x1200). I refreshed the Content folder and the icon appeared. So I did not need to resize after all.

I see, that is how it has been for a while - DS will resize a larger image with the correct name to use as the thumbnail.

That's much better ... wish I had known about it before I stumbled on it.

    Thanks for the confirmation.
