OK, deleting the package so that I could re-download it & re-install and now the black box with the red square is gone & the map back but now again the iRay GeoLocator is not updating my render settings.
What version of DS are you using? Is there anything in the log?
I am using DAZ Studio 4.9.3.166 64 bit on Windows 10 64 bit Creative Update. I just clean install all of it on 6 Apr.
I don't see the same error as I had when I had similar problem before I clean installed Windows 10 instead the most pressing problem seems to be the line in the DAZ Studio log file:
You've got permissions errors on the shaders and temp folders -- could you check what the permissions are for them? Did you run DS as Administrator at some point?
You've got permissions errors on the shaders and temp folders -- could you check what the permissions are for them? Did you run DS as Administrator at some point?
No, I haven't elevated anything to Administrator since I new installed Windows 10 Creative Update on 6 Apr and I also installed everything new, except the DIM Installers and DAZ / Poser Content was left in place on an external drive. DAZ Studio & DIM are installed to the same default.
I've run 0 commands to change permissions or do anything else like that.
I've looked at those errors before and I think they aren't causing a problem. It's not a permission problem though as those folders do no exist. It's a directory not found I guess. DAZ Studio was able to create many other folders and files in the same directory as it says is causing an unknown error for those 2 directories. I think the two directories weren't created when DAZ Studio found out I have no nVidia video card on startup.
I can get rid of those error messages by manually creating those folders.

Nonesuch00 I believe you have my email, contact me and I will take a look at this. Cheers
Hate to say it, but I'm another one getting a black box here after the DIM update when the product was previously working well (Windows 10). I have a sick guinea pig here who is taking up most of my attention right now and haven't got time to mess about with settings etc, but will try to establish what's going on here when I can. In the meantime, I thought you'd like to know there's a problem.
Hello, this is the 1.2 update that should hopefully fix the 'black screen' issue occurring on some systems. Before sending it to DAZ and make installers/DIM I'd like to get some feedback. If you can try and report to info@alessandromastronardi.com I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
Sorry, I can't try your update now but I will soon as my render finishes. I contacted you by eMail already about arranging a time to test for you later after my render finished.
With these ZIP files you upload for us to test is there a way to have the DIM installer install you ZIP so that it acts like a DAZ Store DIM download & install and so is a better test of what your customers can expect when you release the fix to DAZ?

Eh no, unfortunately you need to manually unzip those, there is no installer-like or DIM-like functionality.

Thanks, I thought maybe there was a developer editing tool that DAZ had and for it's PAs too for the DIM config files to create and test out a new package with the DIM installer before release.
The 1.2 update works for me and this could well become the only product I ever use for outdoor lighting in most situations. The only thing that could improve it for me is a 'draw dome' checkbox and maybe a 'draw ground' checkbox so that I don't have to set up my lighting and then go ferreting around under the render tab anyway. I often render a scene on a transparent background and take care of what's behind it with postwork.

Started playing with this today. Black box that crashes when I click on it. Downloaded and installed DIM update; produced a world map but couldn't actually get the settings to propagate and couldn't manually adjust them in Environment so I came here, installed this 1.2 update, back to crashing black box. Windows 10, not the new update. Gonna try to remove it and install 1.2 from scratch, I guess.
ETA: made sure all files had the right dates. for some reason the .dll one was from 4/4 so updated it individually and now it seems to work? Except I still can't adjust stuff in Environment manually.
I know this might be aggravating to those having issues, and I'm sorry, but I have to mention that I have had no problems with this plug-in. It installed with no problem via the DIM, I read the PDF on how to activate it, and as far as I can tell it is very accurate. So thank you AM, I appreciate the tool you've provided.
Well, mine was working perfectly when I first installed it and then I loaded the updates and I now have a black box with a blinking red box in the middle of it....
Edited to add that every time I pull up DIM to load new products, I get the installer for the Geo Locater to install it again. Not sure what is up with that either.

Hello, can you try to install version 1.2 (see the first thread post)? That should fix things.
I got it figured out. I found it and installed it last night and its working correctly now thank you very much! Was past bedtime and I forgot to post that all was well. Am loving this, its a very useful product.

Just a heads up. I purchased this when it was new but just got around to trying to figure out how to install and use it. Even though the fix has been around for about a month, I downloaded and installed via DIM today and had the same issues as everyone else had with a black screen and the latitude and longitude not changing. I downloaded the fix that AM posted at the top of the first page and everything seems to be working now. I don't know why DAZ hasn't updated the file the DIM is installing yet.
I opened a ticket to let DAZ support know about the problem.

It's my fault: I wanted to have enough feedback on the 1.2 update before having DAZ update it again. I sent the files this morning so in a short time the update will be available.

Ah, sorry. Well, the good news is that the fix fixed my problems and everything seems to be working fine now on my system. :)
Huh. Strangely enough, my plugin has stopped working, for no discernable reason. I'm on Mac, running Sierra 10.2.5. I know the OS has updated a couple of times since I got the corrected plugin. I don't *think* I've updated Studio, but just to be sure: I'm running 64-bit Pro v4.9.3.166.
It seems to have stopped communicating with the main app. If I make any change to the settings then the SS Sun Disc Scale and Sun Glow Intensity both go to "NaN." The lat, long, day, and time settings set respectively to "1/1/00", midnight, 0, and 0.
I tried uninstalling it and putting in a fresh install from the last known good link for v1.2, and it was no help.
This is a terrific plugin, and I hope I can get it working again. I wonder if I've managed to toggle another setting elsewhere in the app which broke it, but I can't for the life of me figure out what that might be.

Hello Please contact me at info@alessandromastronardi.com , we can check out what happened. From what it seems from the symptoms, it looks like on your system for some reasons DS isn't accessing the documents folder to write data out. Cheers
Is there a way to use this along with an HDRI image as a skydome?
I'd say no because the sky colors are actually calculated by the plugin itself; switching to 'Dome and Scene' or 'Dome only' would discard the light and colors produced by the Iray geoLocator.

Very nice tool :)
One suggestion: could you add also the feature that I can search for Country names as well. I would find it nice to get all cities listed in Canada for instance when enter Canada.
At the moment you can search only for city names but I do not know all the cities :)
And a question: How can I use it with environment maps set? I see in your promos for instance for Norway you have a enviroment active.
When I do so and apply the GeoLocater the environment map is removed.
Maybe I do not see an option there or something ...
I also bought the geolocator and installed the current version. I also suffer from the black screen. I get the same error as Three Wishes.
Are there any troubleshooting steps that I can go through that you gleaned from Three Wishe's experience? I'm running Win 10. I get the same error in 4.8 and the 4.9 Beta of Studio.
I had to uninstall the plugin, as it blocked my sun-sky settings entirely.
