Smart Content VS Content Library

Thinking about create own "Smart Content", but maybe it is an illusion since I am DAZ beginner, so far I have seen different ways to get DAZ installed or sometimes it do not work.

Since it is possible to open exe, rar and zip files and repack it with "Content Package Assist" as example or maybee other package software.

1. Is it possible to create own package to install it as "Smart Content" ?

2. Or is "Smart Content" a pure DAZ thing to lock out all 3:rd party producer/user that handle software outside DAZ website ?

3. Is it possible to use CMS to highlight only Genesis 2 Female compatible content with Content Library as you can do with Smart Content ?

4. How do you handle this problem with content at different places, Smart Content & Content Library from 3:rd party ?

    1. yes, that is what Content Package Assistant does. You can also set fiels up as a new product using the editing tools in DS though that won't then be DIM ready. therefore

    4. You can categorise the content that appears only in the Content Library under the ... Formats headings, at which point it will appear in the other lists. That is indeed a necessary first step to creating a product or making a DIM install package.

    Smart Content is great but Daz is really pushing Connect and they keep trying to make us install via Daz Connect to make things that are already installed seem not installed ie Smart Content. I personally hate being pushed to use something I'm paying money for. I like Smart Content but not if it is being peddled with Daz Connect and if that were not bad enough I have to log on everytime I want to use Daz Studio what a pain (Daz give us the choice to log on or not. If not then no updates which will be fine). I would like a choice in when I connect like when we use DIM. I choose when to install and I log on when I'm ready not all the time. These 3D products have a expertion date. If you don't sell right away they become forgotten and then is it is when sales come along that I decide if I really want to spend the money. Oh ok enough of my rant in the question if Smart Content vs Content Library>>> I would go Content Library because you have more control over your content.

    You have the option to log in or not, go to Preferences / Startup.

    The icon on items that have been isntalled via DIM is to tell you they can be isntalled via Connect, it isn't forcing you to do so. As long as the thumbnail is in colour the item is isntalled and can be used; if you are not seeing coloured thumbnails for items installed via DIM then there is  an issue on your system.

    I have smart content working on one of my system but on my new system it has everyting grey I just use Content pane and everything works. Consequently, I don't have much use for Smart Content. I uninstalled and reinstalled everything to see if that would work cleared out old data and preferences no go. Oh well I don't like not having complete control over my stuff so if Smart Content does not work as long as I have a Content Pane that works I am content.
