Making v4 shorter

Is there any way to make the v4 figure shorter? I've tried several times including using 'size counts' from Most digitial creations and I still run into awful deformities

    What application are you using? Using the overall Scale setting for the whole figure, then adjusting Legs length and Head scale should work for many purposes though the head scale may be problematic in Poser.
