Carrara Video Demonstration Guides - By GK DANTAS
Browse them all at Carrara Cafe
This is intended to be a simple index to the wonderful and helpful video tutorials by GK Dantas
Though silent, these videos hit the point of the topic in a clear, visual manner and are useful for learning where on the interface to go to perform the given task, but also to use as a provided link to show other how these tasks can be fulfilled. This brings us to my reasoning for creating this index:
Yes, they are all easily accessible from Carrara Cafe, but I wanted an easy reference to each of them on a single page for my own ease in linking to them to help answer questions that others may have. To grab the link, all we have to do is to right-click on the topic needed, and choose: Copy Link Location (different browser commands may differ from one another, but the gist is the same), and then paste the link into the appropriate post. Enough of my babble, though... on with the index!

Marcelo Teixeira (GK DANTAS) has been a driving force in helping artists to become acquainted with Carrara and how it works at the Carrara Cafe, here at DAZ 3D, and via his YouTube channel, which contains all of the above video sessions and more. When I purchased the p3DO Explorer Pro and asked about using it to create Carrara thumbnails, the owner hooked me up with Marcelo, who has taught me how to do it. Now I see that he has a YouTube video, linked to above!
Anyways, the other reason for including this index is as a warm Thank You to GK DANTAS for being so helpful in our cause!
Thanks Marcelo!

Adventures in Lighting
Some of my Carrara pals have been asking if I could provide some tips about getting better renders, some asking for methods to produce my style of faster renders, while still maintaining a decent level of artistic integrity.
While I certainly do not want to come off as some sort of know-it-all about lighting and rendering, I have asked a lot of questions and done a quite a bit of research on the subjects involved over the years, and do feel that I have enough information to share with anyone whom may have an interest in learning what I have to offer... so here we go!
►►► The subject titles below are links to the thread which covers the topic mentioned ◄◄◄
The first thread has nothing to do with the original topic anymore, except for a few posts by myself, so I've removed the link here, and in the table of contents. Perhaps I can pick this up at a later date.
* Updated "Dynamic Hair" to include:
►►► Creating realistic Carrara hair for animations and still renders - By Jonstark
* Updated the Modeling for Genesis post to include my latest video tutorial.
I watched your new tutorial once and will watch it again while working through it. Good work! Thank you for posting this.
My pleasure, Anne!
Thank you for the kind words and constant support. You really help to keep me going with your always kind and positive encouragement! :)
I have a bunch more in the works - so I'm glad that you're enjoying what I've been doing. It is really fun to come up with new ideas to help my friends understand some of the things that I talk about, and when I type things out I find it a bit more difficult since I can no longer attach images where they should go in this forum. So the video method feels much easier for me. I'm planning on eventually writing a book too.
That's a book I'll be ready to buy, Dart.
Hope they fix the broken links up soon :(
They are onto it apparently .... may take a while to fix up though as they fix all the other stuff as well!

OMG, did they say they're going to fix the links? Really?
This entire thread would need deletion otherwise.
I've started working on fixing all of the links and got pretty far before realizing that it seems like the fine folks at DAZ 3D forums may have already fixed most of the issues! Yeah! Yaaay!
Wow. There was more broken than I had originally thought. Just combed through the whole thing trying to fix everything. Other than a few of the earliest Quick Menu thingies, I think I've got 'em all. Hopefully done soon.
Give it a whirl and report any issues you find to me. Thanks :)

Thanks rk! Wow... it feels good to have gone through and fixed this thing. It wasn't very possible earlier, since we couldn't edit the first post in a thread. Our wonderful wed team has seen the problems we were all having with that, so they've fixed it! So cool! chohole went waaay out of her way to offer valuable assistance to me, including taking my troubles higher up the chain to folks whom know html and such... so a big thanks to chohole!
Everything should be working now. If it seems like you're not where you should be right away, give it a second to load and it should snap you to the appropriate post. If you do discover problems - or whatever - please let me know and I'll do my best to fix it. This frees me up to get more stuff done - so happy!
Enjoy!
Nice work Dart, thanks!

...so is G3F/M Carrara friendly?
Not at all. At least, not yet (as of this posting). I know that RingoM and PhilW have done it by exporting from DS as OBJ, then importing into Carrara and teaking out the shaders, but that's hardly what I would call friendly! ;)
...that's not good. What about G2F/M?
Oh yeah! Genesis 1 and 2 work great in Carrara 8.5 (well, I have Pro, not sure if that makes a difference beyond the 64 Bit goodness)
Genesis 3 uses an all-new rigging technology over the previous Genesis range, so Carrara will need to catch up with all of that ;)
..OK good, at least I can use the G2 versions of the characters from my story. Have a number of Howie's beautiful sets that would work well for the estate grounds.
So is there still an issue loading a pre saved character that was built in Daz or do I have to do all the morphing all over again?
I remember being able to import from Daz to Carrara back in 6.1 without any trouble. but the last time I tried it in 8.5 Pro, I got an error.
Kind of the opposite now. If you seem to be having troubles loading everything separately in Carrara, try setting everything up in DS, export (or save) as DUF scene and import into Carrara. I don't work that way very much, but that's been the norm, from what I've read around here so far.
my Rosie character redone in G2F
This one, I've simply loaded everything into Carrara right from the Content Library and optimized from there
