Rendering freezes my computer

As of last week, every time I try to render, my computer freezes on me.  I am wondering if anyone else is having this problem, and was wondering if there was an update that could have affected rendering?

My suspicion would be a hardware issue, such as heat, rather than a DS-specific problem.

I think I'd see if there was a "stealth" upgrade to your graphics driver. There are some graphics card utilities -- e.g. the nVidia GeForce Experience -- that can be set to automatically apply new drivers as they come out.

I always switch off the GeForce Experience option in the custom install settings (along with the 3D VR stuff) - I don't play games on this PC so I stick with the basics.

Download a benchmark; see if it is something that happens when pushing the system towards its max; if the freezes don't happen then you have some info.

Probably hunting starts with deciding if what you're seeing is a problem, or a symptom.

... Just because it's causing you a problem, doesn't make it the problem.

    Freeze? - mine too.

    wink almost.

As you see, while rendering I'm still able to post here. OK - with some shorter or larger interruptions. But that's normal for CPU at 100%.

  • there's a tiny program called "BES – Battle Encoder Shirase" which will limit how much of your cpu a program can take...
I only give Daz 75% access which actually let's me do other things while rendering...
I started using it back when I had an i7 920

I open Task Manager, right click on the DAZ Studio process and set its priority to Below Normal. Or if you have a multicore processor set Studio to only use some of them. Mine is four core and I sometimes set Studio to only use three leaving one spare for other things.
