I'm creating a simulation of the crucifixion of Christ, and I'm looking for wounds that look similar to a nail pierced hand but I'm not to sure where to go from here, I bought a wounds pack but I cant exactly place the wounds where i want is there any way around this?

Darkworld used to have a couple of wounds packs (piercings, slashings, etc.) for V4 and M4 at Renderotica, but I just checked and they seem to have been taken out of the store there. You might email Darkworld and ask about 'em.

Hi,,Kenny,, which product did you get?

if the wound texture can be used as layer , (saved as Tiff, or PNG with alpha channell)
you can easy resize your wound layer texture, and translate it by Layer image editor, in ds 4.5 .

then use it as diffuse map or ,specular map,, bump , displacements,, etc.

(but LIE works not so smooth,, when drug layer image,,about my pc,,
I need often input value,, X positon, Y positon, again and again, but it seems useful
we need not edit layer by 2d paitn tools,, I am so lazy person^^;)

I have only this wound make-up set,
but it seems easy to resize and positon. and have manuall to use LIE

then,, nail pierced hand ,, I may recommend ,,,

    http://www.daz3d.com/lie-wound-pack
I have not tried it yet,, but it may work. (of you better before get it,, ask other users,,
it work with ds 4.5 without problem or not,, ^^;)
there are good iimage which may fit your need.

of coure,, you can replace, repositon, change scale,, rotate,, etc^^ about wound texture.

now I apply bullet material presets, on my genesis elf character, . Bullet forhead.dsa.
you can see easy,, it only apply layer emage on forhead parts.

so that go to surface tab,, select editor (change preset view to Editor view)
then ,, you need to serch surface group,, this image apply on..
it must be skin face (on this case)

then ,,you check some parameter,, about this ILE set, it simply apply texture on Diffuse color seciton,, I think.
(dd not check every preset,, but I think... )

select Skin Face gropu,, then go to Diffuse Color parameter,, (property)
then you find texture icon which you use for your character face.

move mouse on the icon of image,, then click , small reverse triangle on the icon(of texture)
then select Layerd image editor. (see pic 1)

LIE editror window may open. but often the texture not fit to window,
so I click Zoom to fit button, under the texture.
Now you can see all image.
then adjust positon,, I click zoom in .

on right part of LIE window, you may find two texture name.
below 1 is base texture which you use for your character skin face.
above 2 is wound image which this wound sets apply on character skin texture as layer.

Sorry I do not tell every deatil,, but if you want to drug the wound image,
select, layer 2 . (wound texture,)
then just drug it on the image window.

and adjust postion with xpositon, ypositon etc,, lets try!
you may find more clear,, how to use it,, when you tweak them ^^

    adjust layer,, just click Accept.

you can see how the texture change,, on 3d view.

your new texture for skin surface saved as tiff file,,on your ds temp folder.

and you can save it as new material preset for your character.
    ==========================================

then,, this product, has pdf manuall,, it was installed your ds contents folda> read-me folda,, I think,,
and U tube video link.. you may check them.

hey there, I'm picking this up again and I'm trying to create a crucifixion scene and some characters for a video game project im working on, what I'd like to know is there a way to make holes in the hands/wrists and feet areas of a genesis model? Or can daz3d create these to be used so that it can all be done in daz that would be a lot easier for me so atleast I wont have to put in through another software and then get lost with what im trying to acheive???

Could someone create these graft mods so i can buy them..

I'm working on a project and someone suggested that I should use d-formers to create the holes into the genesis geometry, is that possible??

What exactly are you after? Do you have an example of what you want to do?

Merged a new thread on the same issue - please don't start new threads on the same topic, it simply leads to wasted effort as people go over the old ground again.

A DForm or morph cannot make a hole though a mesh - for that your options are to apply a transparency map, possibly along with a DForm or morph to give the hole sides, or to create a GeoGraft to replace the skin on either side with a tunnel through the mesh. In any event you will need to do some retexturing.

This is what I was trying to achieve, a friend was helping me out two years ago and after wards left me with a broken bone system after making modification in 3dsmax... 3ds max was able to get the job done however damaged the bone system in genesis, so I'm starting over with hopes that I could just do it all in daz 3d & maybe use hexagon now that i found out about d-formers

This is what I've been able to do with deformers so far... so now what I'd like to do IF POSSIBLE is to clean it up abit and make it a bit rounder and then add a texture to it to make it look really real..

What made the hole in your figure (storywise)? You might not need a hole. Without the right information, it's hard to give you an informed response. There would be a lot more to making a hole depending on if it's a gun shot or what. Remember, there's muscle, tissue, and two major bones there.

well the figure in the picture for starters in my game that im working on is Jesus...so you the rest of the story :) where Jesus is concerned.. for now all I'll say is that I'm working on a Biblical Action RPG

Probably wouldn't be so much of a hole as you're trying to show. Depictions of him off the cross, show a wound, not a hole...once the nails were removed, the flesh would have closed somewhat because the nails would have pushed the muscle and tissue apart. Without the nails there, it would move back. You'd likely see a buildup around the edges from all the damage. (I didn't see that you had said a Christ figure at the start of your thread, sorry.)

A suggestion to visually try out to see what the effect should be, Next time you have a nice thick Steak, try pushing a Nail through it (before you cook it) an see what the effect is.

OK, I know this is a poretty old thread, but I too have a couple of questions regarding the LIE Wound Makeup Artist set. Specifically I want to simulate three very specific types of wounds that really weren't covered. The first is exit wounds from bullets, swords, etc. The set comes with standard bullet entrance wounds, but no corresponding exit wounds.

Secondly, shotgun pellet wounds. How do you simulate a hit from a spread of 00 Buck shot or bird shot? These too are lacking.

The last one is multiple parallel gashes, such as from large claws or parallel bladed weapons such as Shuko and Ashiko , Tekko Kagi, or Wolvers (ala Wolverine). I'm mostly interested in this last issue in order to make wounds cause by my character, Panther's battle glove, which has four razor sharp "cat claw" blades as seen in the attached images below.

For the multiple slashes you could load 3 or 4 of the same slash wound and use LIE to 'nerf' them into different locations to give the impression of being hacked by a 'wolver'.
