Wings3d with Daz Studio? Carrara and El Capitan?

I am looking to add a program or two to fill in the gaps around Daz.  Does anyone know how well Wings3d obj files import into Daz?  Also, Carrara looks like it adds to Daz and some of the products I want to use are for Carrara.  How does it run under El Capitan (OSX 10.11).  And is it really dead?  I don't want to get tied to a dead platform.  What is a good Carrara alternative (that is not over $300)?

Thanks.

Pretty much anything that exports Wavefront Object format (i.e., .obj files) will work with DS.  The OBJ format has been a around a long time, and is pretty simple/basic.  Unless Wings3D has a buggy exporter, it should work fine.  Carrara is also good.  Try both, if you can, and see which you prefer.  Carrara has some advantages (being able to load DS native files/content directly, physics, etc.) but its development is pretty much stalled......DAZ might invest more in it, might not.  And no telling how long until then if it does.

I would love to see Carrara updated (and have Iray rendering added to it!) but that is probably a long way off, if ever.
