How does one run a mok? Does it have an acceleration pedal? Do you need keys to start it? Who makes them? Or is it some non-moving machinery like a blender or television? I'm confuuuused!!!
What about testing in Bryce water...
testies, testies, one, two, one two
testies testies one, two, three . . . . . . . waaaaaaaaat?
oooh, bonus!
LOL
I had a good chuckle this morning reading through this thread. You guys are so silly!!
Last night I was getting that "unable to process your submission" error whenever I tried to post. Actually thought I had been banned or something at first. But it is all good now. *grumbles about cloudflare, cloudfair, or whatever it is"
Actually we think that error is generated because the software is seeing your post a having overtones of a spam type post.
Altering one word in the post, or changing the punctuation, maybe adding a couple more words, and it will then allow you to post.
There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to — The Outer Limits.
And I recognize both; which is no surprise since I'm turning 51 this month :-P
Yes, Bic work the best, probably because it was just a tiniest bit biger than most biros. And I prefer the "hockey puck" to the "3 armed" shape because I found the latter way too thin :P
I would attempt to roll up my mangled tapes from my car cassette whilst driving using my fingernail, and that was until mid this year,
I had an older car with no CD player.
yh, I get it now, LOL, it's cause it wasn't black, well that's my excuse anyway ;)
happened to me earlier, trying to say thanks to Dryjack fro the sciences set!
we still have a car with a cassette player :)
"Do you not like me with my clown? I can see I make you frown."
:bug:
I thought you were joking when I first saw this. It took me a few seconds to realize this was actually a serious post :)

If you make two identical posts the forum thinks it's spam? Makes sense. I have that problem a lot in the PlatClub Inspirations contests since I usually make my entries eligible for two consecutive ones, so I post the same thing twice -- I add an extra space to the second one to keep this from happening.
Believe it or not, I still have some of those . . . stuck in their 45s.
One of these days I just HAVE to clean out the top of that closet. ~shakes head~
Anybody recognize this?
I had a customer (a few years younger than me) tell me that he showed a young woman friend of his one of those things that his wife had recorded back in the '70s. The young friend said incredulously "Wow, I've never seen a record before!" completely missing the fact that the salient point was that the wife had been a celebrity at one time. I feel so old. :-( I remember playing with Edison cylinders and wire recorders. 8-s
Have quite a few records here still, and keep buying more from charity shops, sadly I don't have a turntable to play them on...
Yeah, but some time ago when dirt poor and desperately in need of a few pennies I sold all my records and all the equipment. :-( However, I don't miss the expensive big box speakers even if they had walnut cabinetry. I can't hear high frequencies anymore anyway.
I get by with decent computer speakers and I wear a good set of wireless headphones now to listen to my CD collection or even watch TV . Yeah, I know... wireless isn't perfect but that's OK 'cause I can't hear the hiss, and I can stand at the sink washing dishes and still hear my TV OK.

you can get some quite nice bookshelf speakers now, and just waiting to spot a cheap turntable, I wear headphones on the bike, gives me something else to listen too other than wind noise!
I can just imagine you listening to records, playing on a turntable, whilst riding your bike.
LOL, yh, u just use a couple of bungee cords to hold the turntable in place, and avoid potholes :)
We've already forgotten more than most kids will ev...
errr, what were we talking about?
Listening to one right now. Unfortunately cheap turntables are scarce, depending on what you mean by cheap - I have one of these http://www.project-audio.com/main.php?prod=essential

Nice. What kind of cartridge?
I had one of the original AR turntables bought my freshman college year (1966) just before Teledyne bought them out. I hated to lose it. About as simple as you could get. No gears, no metal linkages, no automatic changer, not even the arm movement. Just a walnut sized high quality motor, a big rubber band to drive the heavy platter, precision pivots and an on/off switch. Always had top of the line Shure cartridges & needles in it over several decades. Original price $78 and that was expensive (like $400 in today's money) back then*. My first high paying job was at the Kennedy Space Center in 1975 and I made a whopping $12,000 a year! 8-o So in 1966 for a poor college student from a backwoods town to spend $78 on a turntable got me a lot of flack from my parents. College corrupted me, I got introduced to the concept of quality.

* Note: In 1966 you could get a 750cc Honda motorcycle for $1000, a Buick station wagon for $3500. A Cadillac for $5000. A great house for $20,000. My first year's tuition at Florida Institute of Technology was $2,400. It's now $17,000
I'm using the Ortofon cartridge it came with - changing cartridges looks scary, and it's way better than my old (and fifteen months dead) Pioneer system's turntable and cartridge. It would seem very familiar in operation to you - no auto anything.

very nice, I was thinking more the charity shop, for a tenner kind of thing, although I can get an ION on that will convert my collection to mp3 for about 60 quid :)
