Problems with Iray (grainy or rendering too much)

I have two problems. The first is when I use Iray in the viewport, it always renders 5000 frames no matter what I do. It even renders 5000 frames on an empty scene. I suppose I could reduce the number of frames in Render Settings, but I didn't need to do this before.
The second problem is when doing a full render where I use anything except "Scene Only", it converges too quickly and it's all grainy.
Anyone else having these problems? It didn't used to do this. But this started happening about two weeks ago.

If you haven't already, you might hit the Defaults buttons to return everything to their default values. Some changes sneak past. Try again to see what you get.
WOW! Thanks! That fixed the graininess during a full render. Still renders 5000 frames in the viewport though. I can't find any "default" button for the Draw Settings.
The Default button is all-or-nothing. It resets all of the options in the Iray Render panels, though it's still a good idea to manually check. By default, I recall Draw Dome is on, as is ground shadows.
Depending on the scene and the speed of your card, 5000 iterations may just happen to be the first stop-at value Iray gets to -- the other two is time (defaults at 2 hours) and convergence ratio (95%). For most people it's usually the convergence ratio or time that's met first, but it's the first condition that's met that will stop the render.
That's just it. Convergence is never hit when I use Iray in the viewport. It's well past finished rendering quality wise at around 200 frames on a single figure. It never gets that far with a full render. But in the viewport? 5000 frames no matter what. Like I said, it'll render 5000 frames on an empty scene. No way that didn't converge.
The latest Iray update did bring about some changes to how quickly renders converge. I have also noticed on some occassions images converging to 100% pre-maturly, with some graininess still in the image. Upping the "Render Quality" slider took care of this issue for me though.
The main problem I'm having is that Iray is rendering 5000 frames in the viewport no matter what. It's completely ignoring Render Quality and the convergence settings.
Here's my log on a 100% completely empty scene.

And then it proceeds to render 5000 frames.
Maybe this is how viewport rendering works. I don't have nearly enough hardware to wait around for 5000 iterations, so I've never experienced this. The viewport renders are a special Iray mode (real time) and it may not have all the features or functionality of Photoreal mode.
It worked correctly until about 3 weeks ago. Trying to figure out what changed. Note that it renders 5000 frames on an empty scene. It definitely did not draw anything on an empty scene before.
