Figure parameters change on merge.

Sorry if this question has been asked and answered. I've tried searching the forums and via Google with no success.

I've created a few characters, each saved in their own base files. When marging a few into a new scene, one of the figures will have a lot of their parameters changed, and will look distorted. I tried it again, but changing the order the chatacters are merged, and it would happen again, but to a different character. Each time it would only happen to one.

Really new to Daz3D so please forgive my ignorance. I did read something about it a while back, but I can't find it again.

Any idea what is going on?

Thanks in advance.

  • To clarify what I'm trying to describe, this is Michael 7 after I merged Genesis 3 Female into the same scene.

  • No ideas?

I've tried reinstalling the base software, with basic started kits, and the same happened. No idea what is going on.

I can just alt+click on all currently used paramerters to reset the character, but would like to know if I am doing something wrong or a way to avoid it.

I seldom use genesis3men characters, then I could not test much, but Can you show all step more clearly?

eg,,  saved in their own base files means, you save them as character preset for each base figure, or save as scene?

And how you merge the scene ? eg,, load new genesis3 figure, then apply charactrer preset, or merge subset (merge scene which saved each character)

    etc,,

And the problem happen about Victoria7 and other character for genesis3female?

I've also noticed this happening from a few previous versions of Studio till present. The only way I've found to prevent it is to make sure you deselect the 1st figure before merging the second into the scene. That has always worked. I never made a bug report since I figured it must be something unique to my setup.

  • Hey kikakoredaz and Zebratech. Thanks for the replies.

I'll try to play around with it more and try your suggestion Zebra, honestly seems so simple, and I can't remember having existing figures selected or deselected now.

    Really appreciate the replies.

Having existing figure deselected has seemed to avoid that problem. That's for the help!

One was likely being "fitted to" the other, by the sound of it.

This works for me.  Select in scene figures then go to File/Figure/Lock Selected Node Shape.  Just Unlock any figure you chose to modify after the merge.

I must try the the 'unselected' method as my results before appeared inconsistent and was driving me a little batty trying to figure out the problem.
