Hah, bought it!
Awesome! Hope you enjoy!
Just orderd/downloaded mine! I KNOW I will enjoy.
Thanks much.
Excited to see what people start building with it!
Purchased and playing with it--and loving the versatility.
What I found might be helpful maybe in the next package is that the "blank" walls (the ones with no windows) have a version that doesn't have the trim on one side--same with the corner piece having another two that don't have the trim on the innner or outer edge of the corner. If using these items as outer walls, it doesn't quite look right when you have window pieces with no bottom/top trim, then add a blank wall that has it. The trim can be turned off in the geometry editor (can’t use opacity to turn them off like was done in the base package since this will turn off both sides), but I’m not sure how many users know of the geometry editor so it would be easier for at least for the newer users to have them already created.
And, yes, I plan to purchase any further packages and appreciate your hard work on these.
I got this product the day when it was launched, and only had time to play with it yesterday. This is my first Create a Room product, and I really love it. I'm really sorry how DAZ launched that sale pushing some decade old items instead of featured artist shops, or I might have tried your older sets too when I got this new one. Well, there's always another sale, and now that I know how this works, I'll definitely get more later. Anyways, I really like the details you can get with this, and I didn't realize you could also open the windows and doors, and especially those morphing blinds was a really nice surprise. Thank you for a great product.
I still have a question though, since I couldn't find any manual, is there a way to make those walls snap in place around floor tiles? Like if I have a floor tile selected, is there an easy way I could build walls around it's edges. It's not a big deal to manually move the walls, but I was just wondering if I have missed something.
I built the included preset file using Daz's built-in alignment tools, mostly just by reasoning out which pieces will more easily align to which others, then grouping those, and aligning whole groups until I had everything straight. I tended to work with the pieces in the default location and rotation, build a long wall, group it, then rotate it and align it into place. See the comment after the next quote for more....
I will actually speak with Daz about updating the set in the next couple weeks with just such a piece. I can hammer it out on my end once I've finished work on the Long Island Mansion. For all the testing I do here, and the testing that Daz does on their end, nothing beats having a few hundred sets of eyes on something once it's been released. You guys find way more bugs or opportunities for QOL improvements than we ever could. Thanks for the suggestion!
Debating on buying this before it goes off sale today. I have several of the Vignettes and they are great. However, it says that for the light fixtures, light switches, electrical outlets, etc are only available in the base set, Looking at the Base set, it doesn't bring much to the table once you get this set and doesn't apear to have Iray materials. Any chance of an update or Xpack 4 with just the heat registers, electrical outlets, light fixtures/switches, etc...? Maybe a whole set of heat registers/AC vents and intakes for both the floor and ceiling, light switches including gang switches and/or dimmer/ceiling fan knobs, 2 and 4 outlet electrical outlets, light fixtures, ceiling fans with light fixtures and other goodies in an Xpack4? I do plan on buying Xpack1 at a later date because that will work in many different sets but money is kind of right right now so it will have to wait for a later sale. Way too much stuff on my wishlist and todays sale did not help (can't pass up on a free Girl 7 which kind of messed up my buying plans for this payday).
Base Set is Iray only. I need to look into the particulars of that product listing. I had PM over the weekend from someone who was under the impression that Base Set was for Poser, also.
I'm not sure when I'll be doing another complete XPack for Create a Room. What I have planned for the rest of the year are themed Movie Sets that include odds and ends as extensions to Create a Room. For instance, the Long Island Mansion will include things like basement floor posts, bookshelves, a fireplace, a built-in corner cabinet, and things like that, which will install into the Create a Room folder, in addition to also loading into place when the full house is loaded. It's possible certain things like heat registers and electric outlets could be included that way in future sets.
I have all of your C-A-R sets, they are wonderful.
Thank you for creating them for us.
And thank you for coming on the forums and conversing with us.
I, personally, find it easier to justify buying from people who do.
Your listing for the Base set shows to be for both Poser and DS. Shows to have "Daz Studio Material Presets (.DUF) & Poser Imported Material Presets (.MC6)". Xpacks 1 & 2 both state "Optimized for Iray". where the Base Set does not. I just pulled he trigger and bought Xpack 3 because I can still use it with some of your other items I have and can use the Ghost Lights 2 light fixtures for now. Unfortunately I won't get to play with it until Sunday afternoon. I am stuck in Houston on this wimpy laptop while on vacation. Looking forward to adding some floors and walls to some of my Vignettes to make larger sets. Also looking forward to some of the themed Movie Sets you mentioned. One request, stairs. The basement pillars you mentioned do give me hope. Thanks again.
How do you get the walls to line up without creating seems?
That's a very good question. This has been my problem with all of these sets. I thought the new one might prove a little easier to work with using the Align tools (as the creator suggests above), but so far I'm not having a lot of luck.
So uh has this been resolved yet? Has the creator even bothered to test lining up walls together?
