Hi the even without hi res SubD activated the genesis figures are too high poly to get truly real time performance
also Iclone uses Game engine technology to get that real time feed back.
I created my own super low res proxy figures that gets me near realtime viewport feedback.
The animation is then saved as an animated pose to be applied to my full res genesis figure for rendering.
you could sell the proxy system in daz to speed up animation, and the clothing physic system from your youtube too ! go ahead, we need developers like you
I support your request for a realtime animation system in DS.
Well they need to fix the IK/foot& hand contact system before making things realtime.
I also would like to see more functionality for realtime animation in DS.
I've run the iClone demo once and yes it looks like a Game engine is running in the preview window.
I dont know exactly what openGL functions are used for the DS viewport but for to lower the amount of polygons there is this level of detail LOD system that allready exists in DS, but as I tryed to load a decimated geometry version with "Add Level Of Detail" to the genesis 2 figure I switched to my new resolution level and the figure disapears from the viewport.
Did anyone know how to create a new resolution level for a genesis figure?
I wonder if this could be used dynamicly to switch to a lower res geomerty version depending on the distance of the figure to the camera or if the timline starts to play an animation.
Also there should be a mip-map system to be created and stored at diffrent resolution levels of scaled down texture maps that gets loaded also depending on the camera distance and lowered while an animation is played.
For now it seems that DS with the viewport set to Texture Shaded and the figures with at least one subDivision level does the best it can to display the smoothed highres geometry with the highres textures on it all the time.
There are settings for the viewport preview in the Preverences>Intervace section but maybe we should have a special DrawStyle option in the Viewport for faster animation preview with a LOD system to boosts the preformance for realtime animation.
I use Iclone pro for the realtime performance but only to create the motion data to be exported&retargeted to a hi resolution Genesis figure later.
I also created my own super low res proxy dummy and rigged it with the genesis 2 rigging with autofit.
this gives me near realtime performance in the DS veiwport and can of course be saved as animation data to be applied to my hi res genesis figures for rendering.
