Blender .obj to DAZ Studio Export/Import

Does anyone have a reference that explains the details of how to export and import an .obj from Blender to D|S? I keep getting issues with incorrect orientation when it comes in to D|S, and it appears the textures/materials don't come thru. And I'd especially be thrilled if someone had advice for exporting Archimesh objects out of Blender. It appears the auto-hole objects come thru, and I'm wondering if there's some way to exclude them from the transfer. I tried selecting every mesh but them, but that doesn't work.

Thanks.

I've only done it a couple of times but when you import to DAZ it does ask if it is in Blender units so choose that. As far as the textures go you need to go to the Surfaces pane in DAZ Studio and manually assign your materials and configure them.

It may differ about each user ,,indecision   I  prefer to keep default export  option, about axis," -Z foward Y up" . scale 1.00  (if you set blender 1unit = 1m, I usualy use this unit)

then  import it with scale 10000% ,(because daz 1unit = 1cm  ,  without axis conversion.   (keep X, Y,Z in daz studio) , this setting is same as Cinema4D , LightWave, when you choose those preset.

other option change, what I hope to.  (make morph, or export as triangle, or need  to keep group name, for mesh gorup etc)

you can google serch, with "sickleYield" (sorry miss spel,,) "daz" "blender" ,  She  have offered  many tutoriall about blender and daz studio  for DS user as ds product vendor. .    then you can get more presise correct way I think. (I do not know, which option she use or not when export,  because best recommend option setting is often different by each  user smiley

And when you export obj from blender, there  is option, export "selection only", it work about each obj, though I seldom play with Archimesh add on, if it can keep each part as each obj, "selection only" option should work. but if you generate it as one mesh, this option not work for each vertex group with your selection. you may need separate mesh, then divide as each object..

Between Blender and Daz Studio, I have found in the past that FBX works better then OBJ.

Export from Studio as an Obj.

I invis or delete what I don't want to get transferred; there is another way but tend to forget.

Import in blender as an object with the settings show

Correct orientation and scale - you'll notice that the geometry is high, so make sure to set it to base before export from Studio; this is important if you're doing morphs.

After exporting from Blender to re-import into to Studio, be sure to import in daz at the same axis as converted and the reverse scale; 10000% if you exported at 1%

    From Daz.JPG
    661 x 506 - 52K
    In Blender.JPG
    252 x 320 - 20K
In blender with correct scale and orientation.JPG
    878 x 1203 - 119K

I've read somewhere Collada DAE format works best for creating morphs in Blender for DAZ.

I have no issues providing I remember to zero stuff and set it to base.

Thanks all for the input. So far it looks like the suggestion to use .fbx from Blender to D|S is what works best for me. Of course the textures don't come in, but that's fine because I'm just going to convert them to Iray anyway. But the dimensions and orientation are perfect, no need to even enter any input to account for differences in axes, etc.

    what I do:

    DAZ Studio (export .obj):

    - to DAZ Studio options, check Use Node Name(s), uncheck Write Material Library.

    Blender 2.78c ( Import .obj)

    - Scene tab > Unit presets: Centimeters (Metric,degrees,0.01 u. scale). This setting is important for the scale between apps.

    - Import .obj . Check: Smoth Groups, Lines, Keep Vert Order, Poly Groups (optional).

I do not need more for the moment to import / export.
