    O.T. Kind of...

Hmmm... They placed the Rachael character, from the movie Bladerunner, at the top of the "Top 5: Sci-fi ROBOT girlfriends" list? ...Pardon me?

I know the definition of "robot" can be a bit blurry at times, but if Rachael is a robot then all humans are robots. No? ;-P

Rachael may have been grown, assembled to some extent, and genetically enhanced, but not in the way I would associate with a robot. Again, the definitions can become a bit blurry. And there are other points to consider.

Or perhaps I'm not remembering the Bladerunner story correctly? :red:

    Puzzling. :ohh:

Rachael (and all the other Replicants) was an artificial human, manufactured but organic. So not a robot. :)

They excluded other non-robots, and a couple of robots, then really dropped the ball on Rachel.

He scratched Cameron, because of her permanently youthful appearance, but it's a girlfriends list, not a wife list. The creepy elderly rich guys usually go for about 30-ish, so I agree she's probably non-standard for the long haul. On the other hand, she'd probably know how to change her appearance.

They only went for live action. Anime would increase their options. Jeri, perhaps.

Edits: I keep thinking of more...

No mention of neo-Ilia (the first Trek movie), maybe because she seemed hopelessly not-into-that. And they didn't consider Mudd's androids at all. And what about Rayna Kapec? Spoiler alert: (You'd probably never get her away from Flint, without the tragic ending, though) (Actually, if you found her a few decades after Kirk did, she'd be totally available). And Data's daughter, Lal. She chose the form of an actress who was 28 at the time. Kinda quirky, but she was humanizing at a fantastic rate.

They didn't put much thought into their abandoned boyfriend list. Andrea's counterpart was faux-Kirk. The original Corby was appealing to Chapel, but she wasn't into the mechanized version. Brown probably wouldn't get many takers. Ruk might be a long shot for the adventurous.

Data, from Trek Next Gen could've gone on a male list, but it'd be hard to pass him off as human. Questor, would be a good choice. They're both functional as boyfriends. And Questor was apparently convincing as a reserved human. Norman, and any other male Mudd androids, if they were programmed for it - Norman was kinda clingy, though. (The female androids were programmed for it, thanks to Mudd). Mudd's weren't much for personality, either, so they might have to be dropped for that criteria. Ash, from Alien, or any of his model could be programmed to fit, if you have the cash.

I would argue that holodeck personalities could be considered androids as well, OTOH, they're not mechanical, but complex forcefields (when solid) projected by mechanisms. Federation programmers probably never matched Minuet's realistic personality. Voyager's holodoc created his own 50's-esque ideal Stepford wife (and kids) in one episode. For stalkers, DS9 showed Quark trying to copy Kira's form (and psychology?) with some gizmo. And Barkley had recreations of Troi and Crusher programmed to find him worthy of admiration.

Yup, The Stepford Husbands (1996). But they weren't robots, it was a drug cocktail.

Off of the topic, the original Stepford's Dads decided they didn't need to contribute to the gene pool, after all, The Stepford Children.

    or a Garry2000 lol

    Possibly, I dunno.

Heh, in real life, I suspect the first basement-prototype male android would probably turn out to act something like Sheldon, of the Big Bang Theory.

But; according to Season 1 episode 2; he's "fully" functional. :-)

I put that in there (italics added), but the sentence order got jumbled when I added Questor, and it wasn't worded clearly...

They're both physically able (italics added). And they're both programmed to do the deed (well). And they both did.

I meant that Data always seems to be an android, in conversation. IMO, he never really learned to impersonate a human, even after the emotion chip.

I'm not sure if Bell's "convincingly realistic" means that one could introduce them to people. :)

The top of my list for the hottest "robot" girlfriend woud have to be Naomi Armatage from Armitage III Polymatrix and Armitage III Dual Matrix. She was hot.

...they forgot Rosie from the Jetsons. Now there's a cyber gal after my heart, she'll cook your dinner, clean your flat, mend your clothes, and make sure the kids get off to school on time.
