...heading off for the weekly grocery run. At least I can now make it home before it gets dark.

    Though not happy this weekend was even shorter than usual.

    Have to remember to put in for my week off tomorrow.

    ...be back in a couple hours.

    it's funny watching Firefly after all the Rick Castle episodes. and seeing Nathan Fillion thin again in his capt tight-pants.
    5 seasons of Castle, they only made one semi season of Firefly. Tis an unfair verse, tis.

    Complaint:
    Something was wrong with the checkout wizard I was working on. I fixed it, then did some more work, and now it's broken again. >:( I'm taking a break.

    So true..., but then again, I don't think there will be a feature film of Castle. ;-)

    Complaint: I was recently trying to find recordings of music by Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein on YouTube and was surprised at how difficult it was to find what I would consider a descent if not good recordings for either. Perhaps I'm spoiled in that my father had excellent recordings for these pieces in his collection, which he used to play when I was a child. Both pieces require a powerful speaker for their narrations. Finally, though, I think I had some success.

    "Lincoln Portrait" by Aaron Copland... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cs6cIi_mKfg

    An aged, powerful, stately, and charismatic voice is a must for this piece.

    If you like the Lincoln Portrait then you should definitely also listen to Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man"... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cr6CnG5dmvM

    Both the Lincoln Portrait and the Fanfare for the Common Man go hand in hand and were sometimes packaged together on the same recording.

    The second piece I was looking for is the "Kaddish" by Leonard Bernstein... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71r99SjU0JU

    My father's recording of this piece was conducted by Bernstein himself and featured a woman's voice that was saturated with anguish and emotion and powerfully unforgettable. The narration was also done in Hebrew as I remember, but in the recording I've linked to here the narration is done by a male voice in English.

    From Wikipedia... "Kaddish (קדיש, Q Aramaic: "holy"; alternate spellings, q, ḳaddish) is a hymn of praises to God found in the Jewish prayer service. The central theme of the Kaddish is the magnification and sanctification of God's name. In the liturgy different versions of the Kaddish are used functionally as separators between sections of the service."

    Hm... One of the problems with being a shape-shifter I guess. When you're four feet tall and try to wear the clothing of your six foot tall natural form... Things don't work out usually :P

    @ps1borg: Haha yup :P

    Also... Progress report. At this point I have absolutely no idea what I am doing, and don't really have any references to go by (Bad idea) and am thus just winging it with what my mind thinks looks good (Typically a bad idea.)

    I added a river of sorts, but I dunno. Also trying to make it look more valley-like. Ditched the dried up bushes too. Also bumped up the resolution up to 180 (3000 pixels wide) from the 120 it was at earlier (which was similarly increased from 72 :P ) Also added some contrast to the middle rock so the netherdrake pops out a bit more ^_^

    Also included is my first WIP sketchy for comparison :3

    Hmm I'm thinking some trees or something are in order here... The rocks he's looking at and the hills directly behind 'em are looking very small XD

    Maybe another drake perched on the rocks he's facing o3o

    Added in another drake and scaled him down. Didn't have any references to go by with this one unfortunately like I did with the first one, and I only have a vague image in my mind of what the drakes looked like when they sat down on all fours. I remember it, but it's... Hard to visualize since it was so long ago ^_^;

    Anyhoo...

    It's definitely interesting, Rezca. It feels to me more like a dry riverbed, though. I'd like to see the dead vegetation return, but it's your work and your vision. I look forward to seeing it completed!

    Yes, LuxRender is free. I'm currently trying to find out if this and Reality 2.5 can coexist in peace in my install. (I want to compare things, and at that sort of pricetag, I can afford it.)

    LuxRender is an unbiased render engine based on what light does in real life. Images generated are defined by a simulation of the laws of physics.

    Some of the laws of physics need repealing, gravity for example - why does it have to suck so much ? And why is concrete so hard?

    "A Touch of Cobalt"

    Yaaay for lame title XD

    Um so anyway, out of the various netherdrake skins, I luv the cobalt one the best <3 I just want to reach out and stroke a netherdrake's snout... Give it a big warm hug... And let them know they are loved <3

    So yeah... I still don't know how to color from black and white, and ended up just setting the B/W shading to Overlay above the flat colors XD

    Um oh also, my other painting I was working on? Yeah I think I need a brief break from that ^^;
    But I must do more netherdrakes in the mean time D:<
They glow in the dark :3

    (There's several "variations" to the Netherdrake skin. The one I painted was the "Cobalt" variation hence the name. The purple "Nether" skin is the most common, and there is a greenish one as well. I luv the Cobalt one the best~)

    well, Mada store isn't showing mm yet. the two items i really want this sale is the JingleFae outfit and the Happy feet penguin.

    that office crush outfit might not work so well in a conservative type outfit.

    i would luv to dye my hair blue, a nice understated indigo. when i move to Florida will be one of my first things to do.

    Had a Strange morning. the house lady went on a speech she said was the first and last time. Except that I remember her having the same speech at least once. I highly doubt that this mornings speech was a one time thing. Well it is a group home.

    Aww so cute :). You can use greyscale layers as alpha channels to control brush opacity and so on, just sayin :)
