Real G3 people

Would anyone like to see some real characters... characters who don't look like they just stepped off the runway?  The constant "perfection" is all right for a while, but pure hotness is starting to get boring.

Which is why I usually morph-tweak a base figure - safe in the knowledge that anything I do is far from perfection! cryingcheeky

This subject has been discussed to death and it always boils down to this
"The PA's say  that regular looking characters dont sell as well"

So my advice is get every morph pack you can find and dial in your own "regular" people.

I think the trick is to offer a set of regular looking characters. Check out AliveSheCried's sets at Rendo.

It'd be nice to have more than one "fit" bodytype. Bodybuilders and, say, track stars have very different bodies. Weightlifters vs. boxers.

This is what I am talking about... why aren't these products here?

I actually do have all of the morph packages and body shapers for G3, but to tell you the truth, it's not quite enough.  Bethany is a good start to a mainline figure that's not 100% fit... where's the male equivilant?

Not all PAs want to sell at every possible store?

Textures and other parts of the surface materials play an important role in how a character looks; if you're using the wrong one it will blow your target image way off.

I've got George... he's okay, but I'm talking something in between that you don't have to mix and match...

"he's okay, but I'm talking something in between that you don't have to mix and match..."

The whole pointof the Genesis figure platform was originally to free Daz studio user fom the limitations that we suffered under poser in the early 2000's.

Limitations such as having to purchase mutliple characters and their specially made clothing , just to have variety from the default poser male and female.

It seems that many here wish ignore the unmatched versatility of genesis and  go back to that old paradigm. cool

I've always felt the base Genesis 3 male & female with the head & body morphs had quite good morphability to make from skinny to fat. As far as 'average' goes it just seems bizarre to me that the Genesis 3 characters would not be considered average, healthy character models.

I'm not talking Victoria 7 or Michael 7 that are clearly reproportioned to serve as duo runway / fitness models (the faces really don't figure into the atractiveness too much anyway as that is subjective and I find the default Genesis 3 characters more attractive facially than V7/M7).

Anyway, you need lots of texture sets more than you need more morphs as you have plenty with just the head, body, & expression morphs if you ask me and you need to use both the morphs and the textures sets and dabble with the Surfaces tab if you are going to be satisfied with creating characters as you like using DAZ Studio.

May I humbly suggest the Santa Claus model for G3M which is currently on sale. :)

THIS is what I'm talking about.  Not traditionally "hot" but striking... a character with real charater.  More like this.

An excellent example of what you yourself can do with the existing Genesis 3 Female body morphs, since that how the PA that created her did it. No, it's not as easy as simply double clicking on a preset, but it shows what is possible.

All you need to do with George is go in to Actor > People in the Shaping tab and type in 40%(or whatever value looks good) and you have a thinner fat man. The morph pack has several morphs that can be combined to make a variety of thin, fat, or average figures. While it is convenient to have a figure that looks exactly the way you want, you may be waiting a long time to have someone make it.

Funny you should mention that...  The only G3F 7 series character that I own is Bethany 7.  Until they start coming out with more "real people" proprtioned characters, she will probably stay my only paid character.

  • (Sigh) "You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink."

DAZ and the PAs will make fewer "pretty people" and more "real people" when the latter actually sell decently when PAs release them.
