I could use a realistic giant ant. I know there are robotic ants, and alien ants, but, no giant regular kind. I am a big fan of THEM! and of course they could be used for fairy renders or whatever else one liked.

I guess the realistc one in the DAZ Store is not that good that you could scale it? I bet if you refined the surfaces for it and textures using MEC4D's vol 2 iRay shaders or similar it'd look pretty good?
Maybe you could ask AntMan, see if they have any realistic ones in the pipeline
Granted, the existing ant model ( https://www.daz3d.com/ant ) is a little dated, but... I don't think it's THAT bad...?

We need some modern HD, Iray-compatible insects, arachnids and crustaceans, in general! The exoskeletal texturing under lighting would look fantastic with today's rendering technology. I think that I asked Alessandro AM about the possibility of praying mantids, funnel web spiders and such, which they said they had some plans for, but that was a long while ago.
The kind of world you encounter at the level of, say, plankton, provides some astonishing inspiration for anyone who is searching for ideas for ET creatures. Electron microscope images of insects and smaller organisms are astounding. They really do look like alien-designed robots.
As it happens, ants and wasps/bees are in production and at a good stage of development.
This makes me ridiculously happy!
This is zbrush sketch of the ant in the works (and BTW there will be several ant species included, also the bulldog ant and more), unfinished mesh, no textures, no details such as orifices or anatomy peculiarities. But I'm progressing very fast with this set.
Wow the ant looks great!
