Victoria 8 / Genesis 8 compatibility??

Daz says this about the subject:

COMPATIBILITY

"Genesis 8 includes backward-compatible and even male to female clones for all of the previous generations and sexes of Genesis products. This means that items that were specifically created for Genesis, Genesis 2 or Genesis 3 can now all be used on Genesis 8. So break out that Genesis 2 space suit you loved or your favorite party dress for Genesis, it's time to strut your favorite stuff!"

Flash to now:

Maybe I'm not holding my mouth right, but none of my Gen 2 back footwear is working on her??

My Gen 3 footwear isn't really dialing up correctly either??

I tried some V5 poses on her and she got all wonky in the arms..???

What am I missing here??

Try this to manually fit heels and such.  http://sickleyield.deviantart.com/art/A-Reminder-on-Autofitting-Shoes-to-Genesis-2-or-3-412985230.

The skins of G3/V7 will most likely work from what I heard. I have heard poses from G3/V7 might work with minor adjustments.  The rest of the clothes should work pretty well.  V4 items need to be adjusted a lot by hand until a V4 clone hits the marketplace, but autofit won't eat the long dress or anything.  If autofit distorts the shoe, you can try the shoe fitting tutorial.  I used morphs and posing to get the feet to fit in all kinds of shoes and only a couple of pairs would just not work. flats may work pretty well autofit but even small heels need to be done by the method in the tutorial I linked to. Shoes, especially high heels, are always challenging for any kind of auto projection tool - the same applies to other things that project far from the body such as hanging sleeves.

Yes, I still have some sleeves that vex me.  I can't upgrade yet but I took the long V4 Sonya Dress and gave G8 a spin. It needed adjusting after going threw autofit, no V4 clone yet, but it was so much easier than manually fitting the dress. (my method is the same as the shoes, wiggle G3 and make her fit in it, not adjusting the dress then do the same steps as for shoes, I still have to do some final adjustment to the dresses once they fitted to G3) I was blown away by how much better autofit handled a long dress.  Learning to fit those shoes is still a very big deal to me.  I have loads of old V4 PC items and shoes I can get onto G3 with the wear them all add-on.  To get so many clones with V8 for free makes me drool.

I have fits with high heels and long sleeves male & female. Very frustrating.

I tried a few G3 poses on G8 and the results were ... not good. Legs and head mostly went where they were supposed to, arms ended up penetrating the body (not as in "fingers make contact with body", but as in "in one side and out the other"). Clothing and hair works pretty well, though, and skins are good too (although skins don't seem to work for Anatomical Elements).

    YMMV, as ever.

This is the same exact problem I am having! Has anyone solved this yet? My poses come out correct EXCEPT for the arms!

The reason for this is that the default pose positions for the arms and legs for G8 are different than for earlier characters - "A pose" instead of "T pose."

There is a user-developed script to address this. See https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/176126/g3f-pose-to-g8f-correction-fix-adjust-script

  • How about the possibility of shaping and using morphs based on the real early versions (from Vicky 1 to Vicky 4) for the later versions (Gen to Gen 8)?  I've seen applets on here that do transfer some morphs from some version, but not the ones that early.  I've got really old stuff and attempting to convert them for use with the later versions hasn't been successful so far.

GenX2 with its various add-ons can transfer morphs from generation 3 or 4 up to Genesis 3.
