Viewport darkened?

This is really weird. DS viewport is now darker than it was before. I thought it might be my monitor, because it's starting to die on me, but I just checked two renders of the same scene, one before the change, and one after, and the renders look the same. It's just the viewport that's darker.
I ran through everything in edit>preferences>interface, turning stuff off/on and applying, but that's not it. I reinstalled DS and that didn't help. Anyone ever experienced this? It's a pretty significant change. Everything in viewport is just...darker. Dark enough to be kinda hard to see. Only thing that happened in-between was I had to do a hard restart of Windows while I had a scene open. Next time I fired up DS, weirdness.
Edit: k I just realized that my before/after test makes no sense, since it's the same monitor displaying both. Still, I don't notice anything else seeming darker. Just DS viewport.
It almost seems like the headlamp is dimmer. Is there any way to change headlamp brightness?

It's the actual content in the viewport that seems darker? The viewport colour itself is fairly easy to chnage (Window>Style>Customise Style) and persists between sessions, and reinstallations. Another thing to check, if you have an on0board GPU and a separate video chip, is that the right GPU is still being used for DS (Help>Troubleshooting>About your video card).
Yeah it's the figures, props, etc. Will check that DS is using right GPU. Was actually wondering if it might be video card driver issue or something. Thanks.
F2,, check the "PIXEL SHADER" ON/OFF
with "ON" the viewport show real time your added light on scene (max 8)
also check "GAMMA" >ON value '2.2'
