does anyone have a clue how these work? any tutes?
i see DAZ is selling a tute on it for $20, but I'm not gonna pay for something that should be in *the manual* in the first place.
thanks!

Thanks, but those only relate to importing clothing... i'm not importing clothing, I'm trying to rig a new figure.
:)
There are a lot of tutorials in the old forum, search by google and you find everything. I learned all steps there as well.
Do a site search: site:forum.daz3d.com (put your search here, eg. rigging). But most I got out of the daz3d youtube tutorials, which are based on importing a figure, but you can use the methodes for rigging a new figure as well. You need to learn about creating bones with the setup tool, the polygone group editor and last but not least the weightmap painting tools.
All these are covered here:

Yes, that's exactly what i'm trying to do, but there seems to be no useful information on how to rig an original figure from scratch... even the link you posted starts with a 'donor' figure for clothing, not an original model.
And this is NOT a genesis figure, but just a plain old poser based one.
Try these videos by rbtwiz on YouTube:

These videos are several years old, and pertain to the the original Figure Setup tools that are for Poser rigged type figures, not Genesis TriAx rigged figures. These helped me back in the day, so I hope they're what you're looking for!

Also, here is the first video of Daz own video of the Figure Setup Tools on YouTube. They are rigging a dragon, but you'll learn enough to translate that info for whatever you're rigging.:

This is the first video, there are about 4 total.

The software changed with DS4... tutes on DS3 do not help on how to do it in DS4.
Maybe it's just time to go back to Poser, or anyone else who has completed software.
yes, rigging from scratch is what i've been trying to do.
Thanks!
