Empty scene, no lights, render setting set to scene only, tested with General Release and Beta, and it STILL uses a little over 2 gbs in the view-port render... we'll have to find a work-around, or get 12gb cards...

Wait a sec, just upgraded my drivers and my GPU/CPU is at 0.00% load! Looks like my RAM is the only thing being used! This is great news!

Sorry folks false alarm, I had to restart my monitoring device, it's using the dedicated memory as normal...

Changes and Fixed Issues in Version 419.17

[Iray][OptiX]: Iray GPU acceleration crashes and falls back to CPU acceleration. [2503738]

  • Thanks cm152335 for the heads up! Updating to 419.17 totally fixed the issue. How do you access detailed release notes for NVIDIA drivers?

on NVIDIA website, while you access the download drivers page,

    under the button "DOWNLOAD"
you have three tabs about the version release
""RELEASE HIGHLIGHTS"" - ""SUPPORTED PRODUCTS"" - ""ADDITIONAL INFORMATION""

on "additional information" you can found a link for a PDF format document with all information about the version

    there is the link
    http://uk.download.nvidia.com/Windows/419.17/419.17-win10-win8-win7-desktop-release-notes.pdf

you scroll around the middle of the doc and you look for "FIXES" information
