I want a green screen

There are times when I want a solo object/model with zero shadows

the problem is even if you only render that single object, shadows will be added around the edge of the figure.

then I have to go and clean up these semi transperent shadows attached to the edge of my model

what I would like is a app/camera setting/backdrop something that kills shadows outside the object

like a green screen that kills shadows and light that hits it.

if you use 3delight ..  you can set shadow to none .. does that work.

or in iray set up a dropout green background far enough behind the character so the shadow doesn't hit on the back drop? Or falls below or to the side...
    ----
render the picture ...  open in photoshop..  crop the picture to elimnate the places where the shadow did fall on the backdrop... then select your green and delete
    ---
doesn't have to be green just a color that doesn't appear in the render...

There is a Green Screen Chroma studio in the store...I just don't know if it really works as the real thing or not.

Hide the background obects using the little eye in the Scene List then from Window->Tabs->Environment select Backdrop and set color to 0,255,0
Perfect greenscreen at no cost and no shadows on it!

Just render with nothing behind the figure - and Draw Dome/Draw Ground off in Iray - then save as PNG or Tiff to get a floating image on a transparent background.
