An .obj (geometry) not appearing in the Daz Studio 4.9 viewport

Dear all,

I have installed a standalone character in DS4.9 but when clicking on the particular character under geometries (where it shows) in the pane nothing happens!  There is not even an error coming up.

I have tested the .obj by exporting it to a separate folder in My Docs and from there imported it into Bryce ... which work.  Thus, nothing wrong with the geometry at all.  Actually the character has 2 different geometries, character itself and hair.  Although both geometries are installed correctly (and showing) under My Libraries/Content/Runtime/geometries folder in My Docs, Daz3D studio, only the character appears in DS.  The second (hair) is nowhere, not even under props.  Is the reason for this due to the fact it's Poser 6 and up?  I am under the impression that any .obj should work in DS and Poser.  This is the 1st time I am experiencing a problem with a .obj.

Thank you for your help.

I'm not sure if you mean the OBJ loads but is invisible or if you mean it isn';t showing in the content pane. The latter would not be surprising as you should not see the Runtime\Geometries folder - the "Content" folder should not be there, you need to take everything out of the Contnt folder and place it in the My Libraries folder. Once the files are correctly place the figure will probably appear in the Content Library pane under Poser Formats>My Libraries>Figure>Some folder.

Invisible .obj are usually an issue of scale. Most commonly they come in too small.

They also sometimes load fully transparent; check the surfaces parameters.

  • I'm seconding that it's usually an issue of scale.  Try importing it with a different setting.

Thank you for all replies. I have followed Richard's way by copying the runtime folder directly to My Libraries folder and now it do appear in DS under Poser Formats correctly as he mentioned.
