Better "scene Info" Pane in Studio

I've been hunting for information on the number of textures in a scene [have one with about 1000 textures which can be a pain in 3dlight when it feels the need to "optimise"]

Hoven't found anything yet, but stumbled upon looking and the "Scene Info" tab ... and what a desert!  There is so much you could put into this.  But all it has is some drab stats on the total geometry and the same on the primary node.

What about the textures on all those faces?

What about a count of the non-quad, non-triangle faces rather than forcing us to manually calculate that?

What about some root node geometery maxima and minima?

What about some quartile range stuff?

ie more information that might let us work out how to start fine tuning the underlying guts of a scene we are working on or to help us locate problems.

If not, why not just junk this tab.  Currently, it is not high-impact information.

I've a feeling it was originally an SDK example file, so room may have been deliberately left for expansion.

It is. I may take a stab at doing this once I get a few of my other projects done.

Thanks guys.  Sorry about the whinge [great word "whinge"].  Look forward to more in due course.  Lx

  • Try Google Image & search for "Daz directx plugin". the plugin only show Information on selected objects & scene, normaly use for c++ programmers using the directx sdk... Does not do texture information though!

I've already put in a request which the devs told me would be implemented - measurements in the Scene Info pane. Instead of guessing the height of figures and dimensions of props, I suggested it be added to the pane.

I don't know this for certain, but it's possible the devs wait until they have multiple things to add to a pane before they start work on it. So maybe several new things will be added at one time. If you put a request in the bug tracker, you have a better chance of seeing it appear at some point.

Thanks GenX and maclean.  Will raise a bug tracker item soon and will check out the directx plugin.  Right now I'm busy reporting Texture Altas bugs.  Not whinging; just doing lots and so finding exceptions. cheeky
