Iray render and lights

Hello,

I come back on 3D renders from 2012 and all change !!

I used Poser and now I try to discover DAZ studio 4.9. I have a big question about lights. I try to resolve by myself but I can't ...

This is my question :

Whatever light I use I have allways the same render with nvidia Iray. It's beautifull but ... how to apply light effect ?

If my light is blue, on left or right side and even without any light I have allways the same result : a beautifull right white light render.

Can you explain me what I have to setup ?

THANKS  !!!

The lights are  semi-automatic switching between 3Delight and Iray settings, the Intensity slider only works in 3Delight, look in the Photometric section of the lights for the Iray stuff.

They load with a low value of 1500 Lumens, that's the equivalent of a bedside lamp. Use bigger numbers, 20,000 for a small room, 100,000 for a large space.
You can find the real world values (in Lumens) in Google and use those.

The even white light you're seeing is the headlamp stuck on the camera. Go into the camera settings or the render settings to turn the headlamp off.

  • Ok Thank you for these informations ons lumens values ! Very usefull ! Now I can add new light with effects :)

But I have always a white light. Headlamp is off on render setting and I have no camera.

For 'real world' lights then set the temperature under the light settings, the lower the number the redder the light. For coloured lights set the Diffuse colour to the colour you want. If you use the diffuse setting then set the temperature to 6500 and use the lumens to lower or increase the intensity of the colour.

Then the white light might be the HDR image on the Environment Dome.

That's also in render settings, try changing that to 'scene only' and see if the white light goes away

  • OK thank you for all !!

Yes prixat, white light is the HDR image. It's a very high light !!!!

Now I can really begin to discover this software which looks greater than my old poser.

Thank you all again you safe my renders :-))
