Is it possible to also get the 32 bit version?

Yes, it should be in your 'My Downloadable Products' area where you got the 64 bit version from. You can have both installed on the same machine. Make sure that you also install Genesis Starter Essentials.

I've been getting the impression, from others on the block, that I could run DAZ on other machines as well. Ironically, or not, often when I ask a "Just In Case (JIC)" question, such as this, I have it answered ahead of time or, at least, partially. In this case, I posted this thread, then tried adding a new iteration to my cart. That worked, but it took this reminder from you to go to "Downloadable products" to make it all happen and really didn't need the second order.

    Now the dillema is this:

When installing it on the 32bit machine, (Windows XPpro, SP3) everything appears to install properly, but the Genesis Essentials don't end up in the presets like they do on this (64bit, W7) machine and when pulled in from the content library, they appear to lose the rigging and relationship data. I try to keep from hooking that machine up to the net. Will I need to do so to get the presets to work properly? Whether yes, or no, how do I resolve this? I'm just getting to the point of working through the tutorials in the DAZ user guide, so anticipate understanding more about rigging soon, thus a possible offline workaround.

Genesis Starter Essentials should install to the same places on either 32 bit or 64 bit to the best of my knowledge.

I don't have the 32 bit version installed, so I can't check, but which Presets are you referring to? I can't think of anything off-hand that works in 64 bit, but not in 32 bit.

Where did you install the GSE to on the XP machine?

(I must remember... never click post till the writ is c&p'd... (mouse tossing moment... grrr)

On both machines it installed to My Documents/DAZ. The content fails to show up in the left side "sash" or editor side bar, whichever it is called.

The DIM seems useless on the XP machine. Perhaps I should uninstall everything and be certain the directories are also purged and deleted, then install GSE first, like on the 64bit W7 machine?

That might be easier in the liong run. I don't know about DIM not working properly on XP.

If you install to the same area on both machines, you should see the same content on either when you run 32 or 64 bit.

See how you get on, at least you wont have 1800 items to reinstall like me :)

Are you saying that you can't see any content on the 32 bit version on XP?

If so, are you looking in the Content Library or Smart Content? Smat Content will only work if the CMS (Content Management Service) is running, the Content Library will display content no matter if CMS is running, or even if the content has no Metadata.

All of the Genesis stuff should appear in the Content Library under DAZ Studio Formats > My Library > People > Genesis.

You can use the Task Manager in XP to see if the CMS is running, if not, you can start it from Start > All Programs > DAZ 3D

The other thing to check, is if the library is properly set up in Preferences in the Content Directory Manager. If not, DS wont know where to look for the content.

Okay... no the CMS is not running. I assumed it needed to be connected to the net, as it is on this machine. Will I need to uninstall and reinstall everything again, or should it be enough just to start the CMS?

    Still no cigar...

I'm not sure where you have got up to. The CMS should install with the main application, as long as you allow it to, and it does not need an internet connection. It should start automatically. Perhaps your AV is interfering with it?

It can also be started from All Programs from the DAZ 3D folder, have you tried that, it is called Start DAZ Content Management Service?

If all else fails, then at least you can still see your content, and use it, form the Content Library pane. If there is nothing in there either, then you will have to enter the path to the content in the Content Directory Manager. The path should end with My Library for both Poser and DAZ Studio Formats.

I know they are all there, and, yes, CMS was installed from the DAZ installation. This time I installed Essential Genesis after installing DAZ. I haven't tried from within the DAZ program yet, as in when it is running? I'll have a looksee.

I've tried it all ways imaginable. At this point, I imagine I'll count it a blessing. It could be you are correct about the video card being the bottleneck, seeing as how I only have the on board chip that came with the MoBo. It probably doesn't help that the 32bit machine only has 2Gb RAM either. The content library seems to be there, so I can use it, but I imagine it's an opportunity to hit the tutorials. I installed Sculptris on the machine, too and if the mesh gets to large, it bogs down.

Thanks for the help. It appears, though, this is as good as it will get for the time being. Once spring actually has sprung, I'll have a bit more cash to put toward that "dream system." For now I guess I'm good.

    Thanx again.

I found a short video that solved the problem with the content.

Right click in your smart content pane's "content library" tab.
Left click on "Content DB Maintenance."
    Check "Process Metadata Output"
    See what's there and

That has everything on the left side pane in the 32bit system.
