Solved - Help with boolean

I'm trying t use the Cut tool (or Boolean tool ok) in C8.5 Pro to cut a 3d egg (UV mapped) along a jagged line so I can have both a top and bottom piece that something can emerge from.

Don't care if UV mapping gets messed up -  and thought I just had to use a polyline in front view in Vertex modeling room to cut the egg - but I'm not getting expected results (doesn't go through whole egg)

Any ideas what i might be doing wrong?

Make sure your polyline for cutting is completely behind the egg.  Sometimes a point may get caught in the object being cut instead of behind it.  There are several boolean options listed in righthand properties panel. Use plus key to cycle through, or click on icons in righthand panel.

  • Hey Diomede -

Thanks for the clear explanation and the screenshots.  That was indeed my problem - polyline was getting distorted in 3d when i clicked over the egg area (didn't realize that in Front view).  Moved egg and drew in one plane as you showed, and working correctly now.  Thanks!
