Connect blocking use of modified files

I modified a face texture and saved it as a copy in the data/cloud folder but studio wont let me use it from there it say's its "out of place"  and I should store it somewhere else ! but it's where I need it, in the same folder as the other associated files, so I dont have to go looking for it is six months. The file was modified for the V5 bree character for my own personal use and I dont want to have to create a secondary location to store it.after all wasnt that one of the points of connect to make it easier to find content. Using it this way meant that I can load the bree character then click the diffuse colour and the browse function takes me to the appropriate folder. Except NO! for no reason Studio prevents textures I create for products I bought from being stored in the most logical place.

I was about to rant about DAZ again but I wont...........

Anyone know how to fix this

It's not fixable.  The cloud directory is reserved for unmodified files, and won't allow user-created/modified files to be stored there.

Do not use Connect if you don't have to.

    OK

So how do I undo connect

    Oh

Just a thought.... the files in the cloud directory get authorised somehow. so why cant user modified files be authorised ?

Uninstall or just nuke all the Connect folders and files and install with DIM.

You could, however, add it to the same category as the other files from the product. Edit: you cold store the image elsewhere, then add a materials preset to the existing category for the product to keep everything together.

    Thank you

I did file a help ticket. My concern was as I stated in the opening to the thread

    This is the reply

(Unfortunately, modified content is outside of our support boundaries. From my experience, Connect content is also very "picky". If you modified the metadata or other things that Connect uses to verify the products, it won't work as it should. I apologize for the inconvenience.)

I dont use Studio full time only as part of a pipeline so I don't have time or the need to "learn it inside out"  I also try to be as clear as possible in reporting problems I have. DAZ help are supposed to be experts and are there to help So why didnt they help like Richard. My opinion from experience with them. they are either not experts or they are deliberately off point. and of no help in order to drive user's into the forum to do thier job for them.

Although it's not ideal in my case to create additional folders, Richard,s solution addresses my concern about keeping track of content, and is a workable compromise

    Again my thanks to Richard
