This is also in the works and to be released hopefully when Growing Up goes live. G8's expressions are fantastic. One problem, all those added wrinkle details don't look good on anything younger than an adult. This set aims to remedy that. You will be able to control the smoothing via a master controller and control the amount of wrinkle detail that are present on the expressions. It can also be dialed in the negative to exaggerate wrinkle details. More details to follow.

You are so great zev0, THANKS, it will make a big difference for kid rendering.

Could you give the slider some of the opposite effect? to expand the wrinkles for more living dramatic moments. Think of Jaden Smith, the son of will smith making a worrying face, if this can be exaggerated it will make expressions more alive when needed.

Ok, I like the idea of adding a separate slider for new wrinkles to laughing, worrying... it could be great. On real life even the nose get some wrinkles on relaxing and breathing loudly

    DUDE!  You are so busy!

I have to say, Zev0, you rock!  Your utilities are fantastic - can't live without 'em.

... and you're very hard on my wallet!

Here is an example of what it does. This set will be handy for use on younger characters where you dial up the expression smoother to remove wrinkles, or dial it down to exagerate the detail for older characters.

Does this product only work with the HD expression morphs in the Daz Original Genesis 8 male and female expression packs? Or will it smooth custom HD expressions that might be created by other PAs in other products?

Edited to add: What level of subdivision do I need to render to see the results, especially of the -50% setting? What subdivision level did you use in your promo renders?

Edited again to add: Does it work with the HD morph sliders for individual head body parts, like Nose Compression HD, Brow compression HD, etc.?

Here I used Growing Up for G8F, Brow Remover, and Expression Smoother. I'm looking forward to the answers to my questions so I can get the most out of Expression Smoother.

These will only smooth out the Daz expressions and ones from pa's who use them when making expression sets. These were created at sub lvl 3, where you will see the changes more effectively if rendering at that level. Regarding individual nose compression hd etc, I realized that some of the HD expressions automatically make use of those morphs where they are smoothed, so I did not treat those individually. I will see how viable it is to do so, and how such individual smoothing will affect the current product.

Thanks for all the specific answers, Zev0. I'm amassing quite a collection of your products. The next big one I'm looking forward to is the 200 Plus.

I installed it, but don't see the dial anywhere in the head pose set. How do I use it?

  • MaxHancockMaxHancock Posts: 226

Never mind. I see it now. I just had to reboot DAZ Studio.  Great feature!  Thanks!

It disappeared again. Every time I select the head in the scene tree, the smoother hides. Only when I choose the figure does it appear. I think it's a bug, or is it supposed to do that?

I will see what alias is set when I am back at my pc. Could only be for figure but I will see if it is for head as well.
  • Zev0Zev0 Posts: 7,089

Looks like it is only set up for when figure is selected, not head.

  • MaxHancockMaxHancock Posts: 226

Thanks!  I usally choose the head from the scene tree to get at my head morphs.  Can it be set to work for both figure and head selections?  I'm so happy with this product, and would be great to see it there with my other head morphs and the expressions options.

So, this smoother totally gone in 4.12?

Can not see the dial for either figure or head selected, just 2 product supports can be found which linking here....

It is still there. Are you sure you meet the product requiremets? It is working for me.

OK, got it, thank you, it is in Pose Controls - Head, not in Smart content or Content Library.

Does it work with low definition exprerssions too?

Or, does it with with low definition expressions, but not as well, or only to some degree?

  • Is this product unchanged from its originalk form or has it gotten an update since the inception of G8.1?

Unchanged as far as I know.  If you use the trick to use your 8.0 expressions on 8.1 it works on 8.1.

Missed that trick. Could you point me to the right thread?

  • I see. Would 8.1 specific expression benefit from an update? I am not well versed in the differences in the mechanics involved.
