Hello! I have a good question for advanced users. For example I need render this scene: empty room with gray walls and shining ceiling (may be some figure inside room). I can do this by 3 ways. I can make ceiling emessive. I can use point light with square light geimetry and a same dimensions as ceiling. And i can make environment map from room and render with dome only. What way is faster by render time and is the result picture will same for all scenes?

The light should be the fastest, or equal fastest, as the number of polygons in an emissive mesh affects speed. Generating the map will take as long as a render, and may need a higher level of convergence or multipel maps, so unless this is a series of renders it will be slower; an environment map will also lose the light bounces from the walls to model and back again to an extent.
