Iray render as Photoshop Layers

How do you or can you save a Iray render as layers for post work in Photoshop?

When you set your render to scene only and save as a .png file:

    • areas in the render that do not have geometry will be transparent.
    • areas where a transparency map show through no emptiness will be the correct amount of transparent.

As far as the render coming out of studio pre-layered, I'm not sure if there is any way to do that.

Here is an example of a render that I did set to scene only, then added the background in Photoshop.

When you look at the full size version of the first one in chrome (not sure how other browsers handle it) you will see the checkerboard pattern where the transparent area is.

I think you may be referring to canvas rendering. You can set up a whole slew of different passes with it(spec, zdepth, light passes, material passes etc).
