someone posted a little tutorial on how to manage gimp brushes, but I can't seem to find it now, anyone remember where it is? Search isn't showing me anything...

All I know is that its best to only add in the ones you are going to use when your going to use them cause the Gimp takes forever at start up to load them all.
I have also experianced Gimp failing to load with too many brush packs.
Matty, Apparently, there's a brush manager in GIMP that allows you to load up only the ones you're going to use... but I didn't follow the tutorial when I saw it and now that I'm ready for it, can't find it :(
But it still takes forever at start up for GIMP to search them all. I had mine seperated into folders on the HDD and I could use the manager to sort through them in GIMP but the more you have the longer it takes and not all the brush packs you play nice if I had too many in there. Yet take a few out, didn't matter which, and it plays nice again. For what little I need to use GIMP for, i decided its best to keep the unpacked brushes off to the side in another folder and only drop them in when I need them.
Then this is what I will do. Thanks Matty!
That's, what i do. I load only what i need. I have a short cut to my Gimp brush folder next to the folder i keep my brushes in.
It seems tedious at first but you get used to it. I've probably worn out the refresh brush button by now.
Just remember to save very often. i have got into the habit of saving every time i use a new brush now. Gimp can and will crash at any moment when using a big brush like for example a Ron's Brush. It's not so bad when you first start on a picture but when you stat getting up past say 20 or more layers that's when Gimp likes to start crashing.
Did you try this? http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5676&hilit=brush+manager
