I have a character using layered image editor textures which do not export, is there an easy way to export the composite texture or will I as it looks like I am going to have to do, have open each one as layers in Gimp, manually fit and merge.
There is supposed to be a temp file according to surfaces in documents Daz 3D temp,
converted what files were there using irfanview but no file by those names present.
only other thing I can think of is applying each to a plane and rendering out.

goto the material you have layered. You will find it is actually a tif file which you can locate.
but it is not there as I said
and whats more studio tells me it cannot find it!
missing file
and yes I have hidden folders and files viewable
I mean in DAZ Studio. Look on the materials of your figure. It has to be there if the layers are showing up at all, because that's how it works. DAZ Studio creates a tif file...
In your Surfaces Tab, go to the material that you have used the LIE on. Mouse over the image. It will tell you the path where you can find your tif.
This you can bring into runtime/textures and apply it as a regular texture.
Mine shows up in DAZ 3D/Studio4/temp/
Yes,,,after create LIE, the layered image saved as one tif image file in temp folda as strange name
which can be shown in your surfaces parameter.
when you mouse hover on the icon image in parameter,
you can see path of the temp image,, as same as other texture applied with the shader propertie.

now I am scared ,,if it is not work for you ^^;
ignore my reply please ^^;
I am on android for forum but I am going to go online and grab some screenies to you know I am not totally nuts!!
Wendy, does the daz or duf file load into DAZ Studio without error?
ok, studio playing funnybuggers with me
reloading from scratch the textures are indeed there
exporting as FBX seems to wipe them out!
Understood. So all you need to do is copy that Tif file, stick it in with your normal texture set, and apply that... at least, that's what should work :) I hope...
I ended up loading the temp textures resaved as png in iClone 3DX5 on my converted iAvatar instead but will try your suggestion next time.
it took over an hour to convert the Genesis figure and as it had extra bones in the dress and skirt I could not cheat and just add a genesis FBX in expression editor as I often do instead of using the Reallusion duf pose
anyway here is my quickie video http://youtu.be/d6J89_t-alU
I add spring to the extra bones
As the others have said, the files are created as d##.tif files in the temp folder (Users\username\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4\temp in Windows), which is emptied when DS closes, so copy them out when you are saving the LIE preset, and anyway before closing DS.
