Can this Poser dog work in DAZ?

It says it requires the "Poser 8 Dog". So I guess if you are able to get the Poser 8 Dog (whatever that is lol) to work in Daz Studio, you could probably get that add-on for it to work as well. I'm not sure if the Poser 8 Dog works in Daz or not.

IF you have the Poser 8 dog, theoretically it should work since DS has no problem with Poser figures pre-Poser weight mapping (which wasn't included in Poser until Poser9).

Doing a search it would seem it was part of the Poser 8 bundle. It was made by @Stonemason so perhaps he could make it available for a short time seeing as DAZ are selling a skin for it.

  • Not all Poser 8 content will work in DS - that version introduced some new features for parametric rigging whioch DS does not support. Whether that affects the dog I don't know.

I have the Poser 8 dog and he does work somewhat in Studio. He poses pretty well and most of his morphs work -- I had trouble with the ones that change the shape of his ears. Of course that may have been just me, haven't used this doggie since I first got him so it's possible I fumble-fingered the dials. My biggest issue is that he only has one texture and it looks very plasticy in Daz. Not so great in Poser either, to be honest. You'll have to do something about the poor thing's fur if you want anything it to look like anything other than a toy.

and in my case, the eyes also mis-align when used in DS

That happens also in PoserPro 2014 when you use certain morphs or expressions. I think he'll need a lot of work to be good in either program. Not sure about Poser 8, though, haven't had that installed in ages.

  • Newbie here. Did you get either the dog8 and/or the Chupacabra working in Daz3d?  If so, How? I too am interested in the Poser dog (8) to work within Daz3d as well as the Chupacabra (skin).
These products have so much more character than most of the daz3d dog products. I do use both current 64bit versions of Daz3D studio (4.10 & 4.11 Beta) and I do own Poser 11 Pro.
I am new to rendering but am even more novice in Poser 11 Pro. SO even if you point me in a youtube video for a similar situation, I would truly appreciate it.
    Thank you in advance.

Looking in the Poser 11 legacy content, I don't see it.

Look under Animals\Pets. It's there together with the Poser 6 dog.
